WARNING About Buying HONDA Motorcycles

My eyeballs burn from reading this.

I'm off to make a Vodka/NyQuil smoothie...

Well, to be fair the observation is correct, this situation is partial cause of some Honda Powerhouses closing down (aside from Honda Powerhouse model being a stupid idea in the first place).

If there isn't a Honda dealer near you, service is gonna be really really far away, or more expensive and takes more time because of the parts turnaround.

That said, <3 my 600rr

This thread explains why I couldn't get a rad fan for my SV at a grocery store last week. At least I was able to bring home dinner but my bike was still overheating in traffic.

My fan is toast too. How the H do they fail, it's just an electric motor not rocket science. Anyways gonna pick one up at Price Chopper later, they're all stocked up on Yamaha rad fans.

It would be the same with any manufacturer, correct.

To be honest, not many shops do it because it's a pain in the *** to do the ordering. Lets say you're getting your valve clearances checked. You'll need the valve cover gasket and spark plug rings. Snow City (for example) would have to order those gaskets from another Honda dealer, that Honda dealer then has to order those parts from Honda. Parts get shipped to Honda dealer, then get shipped again to Snow City. Honda dealer likely gives Snow City a discount but still makes a profit on the parts. Snow city has to pay more than standard dealer cost plus additional shipping to get the parts, then they have to add on their own standard profits so you end up paying more.

Not sure if you just wrote the wiki for distribution channels or capitalism or both. Either way, very well done ;)

You are mistaken....Price Chopper only has Suzi fans. No Frills is the place for the Yamaha ones....

Or just buy aftermarket parts.

Price CHOPPER only deals with air cooled V-twins. I think those Orange county guys work at check out.

Pegassus, please for the love of everything good and holy, post your every thought. I spent my afternoon reading your past posts and I have never laughed so friggin' hard in my life. I have made a mental note to visit your posts when I am having a bad day.

The strange part is that he actually thinks he is on to something here. Much like the first post I read of his complaining that neutral should not be in between first and second because he pulled out in front of a truck on the highway and missed the 1-2 shift and damn near got run over. Nevermind he should never have pulled out in front of the truck, it was Yamaha's fault for putting neutral there. That post was a few years ago, and he is still going strong.
