Wanna buy a CBX ?

We race a CBX called ‘Sweepings’ but we have just got a bike in that has a lot of the same modifications. Would be perfect for a CBX enthusiast who wants a great handling bike for trackdays or spirited riding. Contact us . www.mrcbx.com

I just popped a boner for that Rune in the background.

That's my dream bike.

It would be a total garage queen for me...the last bike I'd hop on a ride an Iron Butt, or heck, even a long full day ride, but it sure as hell would be the bike I'd hop on to go for short stuff. Heck, I'd be forced to join Hortons Choice so that I could go pose in the parking lot lol.

Some day if I stumble on $20K of F-you money, I'll own one. But if not, I'd at least like to ride one before I die just to say I did.

I recall marvelling over one at The Forks and that Honda has the resources to move way out on the design and engineering edge. What's going on with the front fork ...looks like the old Dream design.

According to him the front end has brake anti-dive features, which would make sense with the bike weight and trying to make a comfortable, soft riding, cruiser.

Second trailing link suspensions like that are supposed to reduce the change in trail amount that happens when the suspension compresses, so if you are going around a corner and hit a bump, the steering geometry will remain pretty much the same, unlike a normal telescopic front end where compressing the front shock via bumps or braking compress the front end, shortens the trail, and makes the bike turn in quicker. So basically more predictable steering when you hit a bump or the brakes when turning.
I mean realllllly

If I owned a Rune I’d ride it like a cheap donkey.

I’ve never subscribed to preserving toys for the benefit of the next guy.

I look at this picture, at first confused by a two post lift inside a building with a drop ceiling and what I thought was a carpeted floor, but maybe it's something else

But then I started wondering, are there any CBR600F2s left alive in the wild? Or were they all hunted to extinction by poachers skinning them solely for their wheels. Maybe, sometimes, their forks and brake calipers

There's a fun quote that illustrates this involving a spouse .... but this is a family restaurant.

I'd meet somewhere in the middle. I wouldn't worry about mileage depreciation or whatever, I'm on the same page there, but I would probably be more careful with it than a normal bike as a lot of parts are basically unobtainable anymore if you wreck something. Drop it and wreck on the exhaust on one side? You'll have to buy another Rune to replace it. Same for most of it's Rune specific parts honestly as they're just not made anymore.

The story of the exhaust alone is interesting in itself, each one was basically a one-off.

The history of how that bike came to be et al is very interesting.

Some parts are a horror story. 3D printing may help with some but as I understand it there were VERY few spares made. I wouldn't be surprised if some Rune entrepreneur bought them all and cashes in as the Rune owners go to Ruin.

That would be a very small market indeed.
The HD V-rod sold many more units and you should see the desperation of some owners trying to get parts.

There was often a Rune at the old Haugens bike night. That's only 1 of 2 that I've seen in the wild. They pop up for sale in my Marketplace feed from time to time so they're out there.

They pop up surprisingly often for sale given their collector bike nature. I suspect a lot of people buy them and then are afraid to ride them...and get tired of the space a garage queen takes up. People seem to trade them in as well, I've seen at least 2 go through GP Bikes in Whitby over the years. I was afraid to even sit on it not only for fear of breaking something, but also instantly just laying down my credit card and buying it. My wife would not have been impressed lol
