Wanna buy a CBX ?

As much as I think bikes are made to be ridden, this crated bike has transcended its value as a rideable motorcycle and into collectable territory.
It’s a trophy to decorate the boardroom or garage of some lucky, wealthy gearhead.
It will increase in value by virtue of its age and unmolested condition and that’s ok with me; it should be preserved.
There’s lots or rideable examples if you want one.

Thanks. The red '79 has Sun spoked wheels.
The grey '81 has black powdercoated Boomerang Comstars from a Euro CB900F.

Yes we are some of the crazy guys that race a CBX. It always makes a nice sound and the AHRMA crowd like it. We also recommission CBX's or any older bikes and do restorations too; located near Columbus in Ohio. www.mrcbx.com

I remember reading all the road tests and shootouts on the CBX back in the day and the general consensus was that the CBX was an engineering marvel but the Suzuki GS1000 and later the GS1100 was a far superior sport bike. I owned a red 1980 and a black 1981 Suzuki 1100. Incidentally, a 1979 Suzuki GS1000S Wes Cooley edition that had never ever been started or had gas in it recently sold for $25,000 US. The original owner apparently bought 2 of them, one to ride and one to put away.

I remember as a teenager having a summer job clearing cottage lots on the Burnt river. One of the landowners rode a CBX, I was in awe. He would wheelie the thing on a dirt road every time he saw me.

BIL had one back in the day. I was laying on the tank flat out (90MPH) on my CB360 when he passed doing a catwalk.

Not for $21,000, I don't.

'saw a '79 on FB Marketplace today for $22000

There used to be a guy that raced a CBX550 in VRRA... I have no idea how he made that POS go so fast, it was un-natural... VOODOO maybe

That was my neighbour, Bruce something (since moved away to where I don't know). He was an excellent rider - made the bike look better than it was.
