VRRA weekend at Mosport

Anyone been to this event in the past? I hear it's good.

Looks like a weekend of camping is only 30$.

Thoughts???

I went in 2008. Had a really good time. Lots of great old bikes. Suzuki had a demo ride and it was very easy to get a bike since there weren't many people signing up and the route was terrific.

I am signed up for Period 4 Formula 3. This tends to be a big class ... hopefully it is not too much mayhem.

If you haven't been to Mosport ... err, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (it'll always be Mosport in my mind), bring something that you can use as a pit bike. The place is huge, and it's worth spending time at several places around the track. Corner two HIGH cornering speed, corner 4 charging down the hill, corner 5 hairpin, top speed on the straightaway (the straightaway is pretty looooooong on the smaller and older bikes, but Period 4 Formula 1 is not all that far off a modern superbike).

I was hoping to ride down and camp.

Assuming I havn't had too many pops is there any reason I can't use my OldWing to get around in the park?

They told me that no plated/street registered bikes were allowed to drive around the park.

Backwards. In the paddock proper, it doesn't matter (an unplated pit bike can be used). But everywhere outside the paddock, including all of the spectator areas and access roads, any motorized vehicle has to be plated. Bicycles are fine and are probably the best choice. Most of the access roads are gravel.

I used my FZR400 as my pit bike on the CSBK weekend and put about 10 km on it in one day just doing that ... that's a lot of walking if you don't have one!

I'd have to say, though, that the FZR is a terrible pit bike.

Ahhh, my damn dyslexia again. I believe this is correct. No track only bikes riding around the park.

Its a fun event.
I havent raced it in many years (ten or so) not a huge fan of the track to be honest and I live only fifteen min away. However I have been itching to get back at it so I will be racing the endurance race on Friday then sprint racing three cleasses on three different bikes . P4F3 on a FZR400, P4F2 on a FZR400/600 and P4F1 on a ZX7. Look for #88 and come say hi.
BTW like the other threads say no pit bikes outside the pit area needs to be plated. Marcel (the Mosport nazi) takes great pleasure in chasing minibikes somehow a F150 doing 50mph sideways down sandy/gravel paths is somehow much safer than an old guy on a 50? I will be slapping a plate on my scooter for the weekend.

I went last year (Sunday) and had a good time. Obviously more so if you are into older bikes. Much more friendly laid back atmosphere than the superbike races. I like two strokes so quite a few of them (RZ500, Gammas, etc.).

Definitely want a way around, I like my mountain bike - can get out to Mos corner. As far a riding motorcycles around, as noted it has to be plated but I should say I saw lots of crappy mini bikes that it looks like people threw some old plate on, and away you go. I could be wrong but...

I've been there with my arm in a sling and still had a great time. If you don't go this year then you might not be able to go at all. With the improvements to the track and facilities, and the number of car events that they'll be bringing, VRRA might not be able to get the track next year.

They told me that no plated/street registered bikes were allowed to drive around the park.

No plates are required in the paddock area. To use it outside of the paddock it MUST be plated and insured.

If you've never been to CTMP/Mosport before, you might find this interesting. It's a short drive from the area above corner 1 to the new parking area above corner 4.

Its a good time. I have enjoyed racing or just being a spectator.

I'll be camping there on the saturday night. I was there last year also and it's a great time. Last year Suzuki and Honda were there for demo rides and Norton had a couple bikes on display as well. Lot's of fun/crazy old riders there as well as amazing bikes from the past. Good times.

Does anyone know what the cost of admission is on Saturday and Sunday? I'm planning to ride up for a day but can't seem to find any info regarding the price of admission.

Thanks
