I'm probably going to be a textile guy from here on out. I'm not a fan of leather smell.
Besides, vintagey doesn't have to be about leather. Bull-It who makes a nice armoured aramid pair of pants that I want to try on, also make a matching denim jacket. Look at their website to see what I mean. That stuff should be washable and more breathable.
I have a CANADIAN made Bristol Jacket as well as their full leather jeans.
Love them both, only wear the pants when it's chilly or I'm ridng long distances. Paid almost $1000.00 for the pair 20 years ago. They have retro styles which will suit your needs.
Just priced them out 2 weeks ago- $700.00 for a new Bristol jacket alone. Mine is so good, I'll never need to buy another.
Good to know.
I end up buying a new leather jacket every few years as the lining falls apart. $700 is cheap if it lasts more than 3 seasons!

Sorry gotta disagree.Someone had to say it. Riding vintage means you care about style. Why else would you ride an old unreliable bike when you can ride something newer for the same cost? Riding a vintage street bike with a full leather suit and fullface helmet is overkill. But if you are more concerned about safety then wear whatever you want.
White helmets are awesome as long as its not the only white on you. Need that white to pop other parts of the gear and bike so it all works together![]()
amenSorry gotta disagree.
I'd ride vintage because I like vintage bikes. New bikes are more expensive to buy, insure and fix. And they all look homogenized whether your tastes run sportbike, cruiser, touring etc.
I could give a rat's but about "style" and ride ATGATT pretty much all the time.
Wrong. White helmets are a great safety play regardless of whatever else you're wearing. If you have a group of bikes behind you and one rider has a white lid, that helmet will stand out almost like in a separate headlight. And like Schneller said they help keep your head cooler on a sunny day.
Sadly trying to buy a plain white helmut is tough since most shops want to sell you black or something that looks like Walt disney puked on it.
