So this is not about the NFL?
What next? The Cowboys?

I kind of like this show. As stated though it seems to be really moving along quickly. I heard it was just going to be a 10 part mini series but got renewed for a second season already or something.

Give it up already man. Nobody wants to hear this every time you make a post. You aren't "enlightening" anybody here.

It's an awesome show. A docudrama about Vikings. You'll have to watch it from the first episode to enjoy it for what it is though.

Oh, and the new Earle's wife is a smoke show!

any of you really smart guys ( you idiots already know who you are) know what point in history the vikings stopped trying to conquer the world and just shop at Ikea?
Seems they had a good 1-200yr run beating up on northern europe then did they just become traders and merchants?

Very good show...seen every episode so far. Liked and have Spartacus series and Hatfields and McCoys

When the Richard the Lionheart returned from the Holy Wars in the Middle East, his soldiers and knights brought back advanced technology such as stonecutting or masonry which enabled them to build stronger forts and castles for better defense against raiders. Then the Renaissance began and Europe grew by leaps and bounds, no longer feared the relatively small bands of Vikings. They also settled in places like Ireland, Iceland and Russia. Mingled with the local population, adopted Christianity and assimilated. This is an oversimplified explanation but you get the gist.

Think Denmark vikings became christian... Christianity offered a way to gain and legitimize more power... once they all started becoming christian, the pagan and viking ways sort of died out... so then they became Norwegians, swedes, and danish ... evolving into mainstream European Christians.

I think you can see this power struggle developing more between Ragna and his brother, specifically when his brother was "baptized". Being Christian aligns you with the "civilized elite" vs. The pagan/viking ways.

...when they start having some hot chicks in their camp they were satisfied. There's a saying they had some of the hottest chicks because of all the raping and pilaging they conducted ie. they stole alot of hot women.

In a more serious note, all great empires come to an end. Countless eg. in history, the Romans, the British, the French, the Nazis. Next up, the Americans.

I wouldn't go so far as call the Vikings a great empire, they just got lucky with their timing. They peaked during the Dark Ages, after the fall of Rome and before the Renaissance. The Romans would've given them a good run but they never mixed it up.

Seems like Vikings love orgies. My type of people

Would explain why to this day, the Scandinavians are so liberal towards sexuality.

The Romans fought and were beat by them. Of course by "them" I am referring to the Germanic tribes, which were really just "the Vikings" before the Scandinavians went Viking.
