Video game nostalgia thread

One of the few games that had a sequel as good or better than the original.

I'd disagree with you there, they took a cool character (Vlad) and changed him into a cliche bad guy.

RedLiner740, you said it!! Full Throttle, what a game! Corley Motors for life :)

But nothing beat Duke nukem forever and DOOM, those game are the best ever made :D

You mean DUke Nukem 3D? That was the first PC game I played multiplayer. And of course, by multiplayer I mean Modem to Modem with my friend.....fawk internet. lol THe other game being Warcraft II....used to play that modem to modem all the time.

OH and I never played Max Payne 2 but have played the first one when it first came out (I think I still have the CD in the original box).

doom, doom2, duke 3d, shadow warrior, blood, heretic, hexen, descent, tribes, jagged alliance

here's a game that put new life into arcades in the early 90s - Street Fighter II

Also sprung a bunch of spinoffs, and competitor games like Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct.

I spent way too much money on Street Fighter II.

Gorf!! I used to play asteroids a lot too. Didn't like defender...too many damn buttons. Donkey Kong was a fave too. Tempest was the one I played the most though.

I spent way too much money on Street Fighter II.

No kidding. When that wasn't enough I bought a copy of the Super NES version to feed the addiction.

I forgot to mention TRON. The only board I was good at was light cycles - easiest one.

Street Fighter was definitely popular in my teenage years, but I was into video games as a kid. This game wasn't as popular as others, but it was my favorite game for the PC back over 25 years ago:

Dr J vs Bird... it may have been crappy colours, but you can shoot jumpers, spin moves, block shots, 3 pointers, dunk, and break the backboard! This game was well ahead of it's time.

For those of you interested in setting up your own arcade quality experience (i.e. by downloading MAME and ROMs), X-Arcade's "Tankstick" is on sale until Sun Nov 25 for $159 ($40 off).

I bought mine a couple of weeks ago for $199 and had it shipped for free to a drop service in Niagara Falls, NY. Since I stayed overnight (24 hours), customs didn't bother me so no tax either.

It's definitely a cool toy and really enhanced my home arcade experience. Plus, there's two sticks so you can easily play gauntlet, street fighter etc with a friend. The trackball in the middle works great for Missile Command.

I also bought the iCade for IPAD for $70 from Amazon... another cool toy.

Note: Both of the above set-ups require some technical proficiency - google is your friend.

I loved that game so much I uploaded that Summer Games tribute video to youtube... almost 30,000 hits in 2 years means there are still many like me who still think about that game to this day!
