VFR 800 opinions?

Thanks again guys/gals for your input. :)

The BMW is nice but not for us.

As for maintenance the fiancé is mechanically inclined so I am sure with a good manual we can do valves over the winter like someone suggested.

The heat off the bike isn't a huge issue, at least for myself who currently rides an air cooled Ducati Monster, so I am 'used' the the heat on the legs. As for gas millage, anything has to better than the Duc....lol

I've seen a couple I like for sale, that being said decisions need to be made still.

I have a 1990 VFR750F and had already put 5000 miles without having any hiccups yet. I"ve had an 89 before the single swing arms were released. I've been happy with it and looking forward to have a 4th gen in the future. Just hoping to meet or hangout with fellow VFR lovers in the GTA area. Seem to have a hard time finding one or signing myself up at the ONTVFR club.:(

If you're checking out the competition, look at the Triumph Sprint ST, in my (biased) opinion it is a better all-around bike. Cheaper to buy, cheaper and funner to own ;) It also won Motorrad's 50k endurance test in 2007.

ABS is an option I'd recommend for it. More recent models ('07 and up I think) also came with hard side bags as a standard feature.

An 07 for $13k??? Is it brand new at least?

The 2011 BMW F800ST sticker is $12,550.

As much as I love Honda, their pricing structure baffles me.

.

Look at cycletrader and plug in the search options "nationwide" and keyword "vfr" and you'll see some sweet prices for vfr's in the US. I look all the time as this is the bike I want next. There's a couple of brand new '07's for around 7-8k, and plenty of other lightly used and new models going for good prices. I'm waiting for the spare change and a sale from one of the dealers that advertises shipping. I'll have it sent to the border for pick up and hopefully save myself 2-3k over Canadian prices. Does anyone know if the 2007 anniversary edition comes with standard ABS or if it was an option? That's the paint scheme I want, I think that bike looks amazing.

I have the Anniversary Edition, and I believe they all came with ABS, but other than the colour its the same as all the others.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment!

So a BIG thank-you to everyone who helped by posting good info.

OMG, I rode a white VFR800 with Two Bros exhausts like a month ago at Ready Honda in Mississauga. Is that where you got it from? I have video of me riding it.

Did you get that from Ready Honda?

If you did it is probably covered in my drool.

Thanks for the compliments! :)

And yes 'I <3 my Ready Honda' LOL

As for the drool, I guess it's a good thing they got it all prepped before pickup. ;)

As for the test rider, did you beat on the poor thing? Lol

LOL....good thing.

It's been in the showroom for atleast a year, and I drooled on it everytime I walked by. Beautiful bike. Congrats!

You bet your *** I did. I also made sweet love to those exhaust cans. The grab handles made that really easy. You might want to clean out the inside of them.

I'm definitely going to scrounge up that video and post it later tonight.

At least I know the engine had a good 'break in' period! :p

not so happy about cleaning out the cans though....... Lol

Looking forward to that video.

LOL thanks for posting that up!!!

Too too funny at the beginning! Also your giggles throughout were very entertaining! :)

Yeah, I had the most fun on the VFR800 and VFR1200. I was giggling and and excited about both of them. I've wanted to ride those 2 bikes for a long time.

The CBR250 was pretty drab in comparison to my Ninja 250. And the GSXR-750 I rode a few weeks later didn't stir my soul quite as much.

Well, have fun with the VFR. Not gonna lie, everyone said that bike was meant for me, especially since it matched my leathers so well. If only I wasn't a poor grad student.
