bike parked overnight in hotel underground
Sat and Sunday night
took it out Sunday afternoon to scoot around town and see some stuff

within 3 blocks it felt like I had forgotten how to ride a motorcycle
didn't want to tip in, and when it did, damn near fell over, WTF?

stopped, although the rear tire passed the kick test
turned out it was @ 5 PSI

aired it up, parked overnight, rode 500 km today
has lost zero air

it's a tubed tire, they do not suddenly stop loosing air
vandals? I'm at a loss to explain it otherwise
 
Honestly I would be extremely skeptical that someone would do that, esp. in a hotel underground parking garage. Can you ask the hotel if they have security cam footage? You may have a leak that only leaks below a certain temperature... ???? May sound weird but I have seen this before.
 
Highly unlikely someone let the air out of it. When was the last time you checked it the pressure before it went flat?
I would be keeping a close watch on it

Or the valve core was leaking and self-healed by cycling when he filled it.

I'm not a scientist
but my background in equip. maintenance
and with romantic matters
tells me that holes get bigger as temp rises

+1 on the valve stem.

Did you air up or check the pressure in the days before the leak? If there was something in the valve stem that got caught between the cap and the core, like dirt or a small stone, it could have caused a slow leak. Then when you took the cap off to air up again, the debris cleared itself?

Just speculating.

Met a guy recently that had a similar experience with his front tire. But only lost air while riding, luckily he carried a small air compressor (thinking it was a slow leak from a puncture etc.) But as we investigated the valve in the stem had come loose and as he rode it wiggled around letting out little spurts of air here and there. It was the first time I had ever seen something like this.
 
Replace the valve stem incase it is sticky. They're cheap.

Last summer my front tire was a little low. When I stopped for gas I decided to add some. After filling the little check valve stuck and air started leaking out. I managed to get it to seat after poking it a few times. Once back at the campsite I tried filling it again as it was now lower then when I started and the same thing kept happening. Finally managed to get it to seal while I still had a decent amount of air. Lot's of stress for something that cost about a dollar.

My thinking was that a minute leak in the valve stem could stop leaking due to expansion of the innards due to temperature increase. Also I do know that steam pipe joints that drip water when they are cold (full of condensate, no steam flow but still pressurized, pipe is deadheaded)) often stop leaking when there is actually hot steam passing through it. This happens due to expansion of the metal making the threaded joint tighter. I see it all the time in my work.
Maybe go to Crappy Tire and pick up a valve stem tool and tighten it.
 
10 days, 6,000 km later and the tire/tube are fine
back home and has not lost one bit of air
so I guess you guys were right about the valve stem thingy, thanks

I do see the rear tire has spun on the rim a bit though
red dot no longer lined up with valve stem
doesn't seem to have changed anything though

I heard there was a device could prevent that
anyone remember the name of it?
