As per any stock suspension it goes up and down. The stock gas charged rear shock loses damping and by 10k is pretty much just the spring.Garbage is a strong word. If you ride very aggressively, on the track or are a heavy person then yes. SV is not designed as a SS. Suspension is not the greatest, true but I never had any major issues during the 20K I put on it, all over Ontario. Depends what you intend to do with the bike.
If you want to be able to set it up even remotely correctly you need aftermarket. Just doing oil and springs in the front, and a zx-6r(or many other compatible stock ss shocks) in the back makes a world of difference.
Once you've ridden a decently setup bike you don't want to go back.
