V2 reimagined as Ducati's new 890cc V-twin motor is the lightest to ever leave the Bologna factory

Not sure what more I see in this over the existing 937 cc Testastretta engine that's in my Monster from a performance standpoint, anyway.

The less frequent service intervals are a definite plus for sure ... a bit lighter.

Assume it retains desmo valves, but it's not explicitly called out (only mentions hardened "finger rockers"). Easiest way to increase service intervals, but I guess we'll see.
 
Don't forget Scrambler. That won't help @mimico_polak sell his. While buyers for his are not likely cross-shopping a new one, it may bring more scramblers to market as existing owners upgrade. It looks like they won't make it there until at least 2026 anyway.

Yours wasn't quite what I was looking for so I ended up getting the 1 at GP Bikes ... it's getting a desmo done and a new rear tire included in the price. Looking forward to having it back in the stable again ... fun bike and I can do the dirt roads again.

I ended buying the Comp Werkes exhaust back from the guy I sold it to as he's selling his in the spring and the Mustang seat I had for sale never sold so I'm golden.

Well at least I don't have to compete with THAT one! I knew that one was going to screw my price considering they were only $500 more and from a dealer!

I'm not super read into Ducatis, but isn't the variable valve timing new? For their "small" engine at least. I know that they had it on the "big" Testastretta in 2014

The older 937 engine has variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust cams ... the new one says this: "There’s now an Intake Variable Timing system too ..." so it sounds like only on the intake cams.

Guess they need to leave room for improvements in any future gen versions.

I don't believe the 937 motors have DVT.

You're correct. I was getting the Testatretta 11 degree engine mixed up with the Testastretta DVT engine (the latter being the big L-twin that the Diavel's used to have).
