really? I bet most still charge a fee for disposing.
 
CTC will also take any worn out auto parts you replaced...might help if you say you bought replacements from them.
 
I save mine for my chainsaw as bar oil. I cut a lot of wood during the year and chainsaw bar oil isn't cheap. Used bike oil is!! Doesn't hurt the saw at all as it's only used to lubricate the chain while cutting.

Very possible. If they do, it's a scam.

Every tire retailer in Ontario has to charge $5.43 tire levy on a new tire sold. Out of that levy around 80c goes to the retailer per one used tire picked up (class 1 tires - passenger and light truck). Whoever picks up those old tires is getting paid out of the levy as well, retailer does not pay for it any longer for few years now.

ah.. thats good to know. Where can I find a good summary of this legislation? I'll need new tires for my car this year and I want to be aware of what really I should be paying.
