+1. I was all for it until I realized that its not a matter of providing free healthcare but instead making it illegal to not purchase a health care plan. For those who cannot afford it, they just got royally ****ed.
I'm moving to the states and this is my biggest issue, is the health care system. If I get sick in the states, I'll be temporarily moving back to my parents. Just saying.
It's a start towards our system. It will evolve as people aka voters start to get the benefits. Medicare started out rough too where most of the people were against it. Canada barely got the system that we have now with a slim victory when we went this route.
They deemed it a tax like what we have you pay a 2% of your income to a max of $700.
It boggles my mind how anyone thinks that their best interest is left in the hands of the for profit Insurance Company.

Isnt' that how it works here? you are forced to buy health insurance, just from the government instead.
They were clever though... they call it paying taxes.
healthcare is not very expensive down there if you buy the insurance ahead of time ... when i lived there i paid only about 40 /month for health insurance... I'm sure we pay moer then that in taxes
And when you need some kinda of treatment let's say breast cancer or prostate cancer, that is when you are told that you are NO LONGER COVERED because you lied about your preexisting condition of having acne when you were in your teens or 20's. Pretty soon fat an obese will be reasons to drop your coverage too.
You should google the reasons people get booted once they need more than a bandage for care.
By default it is a flawed system. Insurance companies are in the business of MAKING MONEY not treating sick people.
