Alright so i bought frame sliders on ebay, but got this message:

Hey, Thanks for your purchase. It looks like the shipping weight was entered incorrectly in the auction. We tried updating the information before you purchased the item, but it did not post till this evening. I am very sorry about this. Due to the size and weight of this item, it cannot be shipped via USPS First Class Mail. It will need to be shipped either UPS or USPS Priority Mail.

I can have it shipped UPS for $32 or USPS Priority Mail for $43. I understand that UPS may have higher customs fees for you. Again, i apologize about this. Please contact me if you are still interested in the item. If the shipping costs are too expensive I can refund your purchase.

There is another option, but im not sure if you would be interested. The selling fees on ebay are extremely expensive, and if we could cancel the ebay transaction and just handle the payment through paypal...I can ship it to you for the total amount you already paid. Just an idea, let me know.

i replied

Hi Chris,

I am all for cancelling the ebay transaction and just handle the payment through paypal! If you can can ship it to you for the total amount I have already paid would be perfectly fine. Please let me know

Regards,

Brian

and finally he replied

Hey Brian, yea that would be the best way to handle it. Im sorry about the inconvenience man. It sometimes takes ebay several hours to update a listing, and not sure why the listing was not updated when you purchased it. Either way, we will make it work for you.

Ok, so heres the big question. Are you ok with me shipping it UPS? Im not sure how ups handles taxes, or if you have any prior experiences with them... If you would prefer a different shipping method, let me know and we will try to find another method. USPS is just extremely expensive for heavy items like this, and all im trying to do is break even on the deal for the screw up. Thanks Brian and i look forward to hearing back from you.

SO i tried searching reviews on UPS and i swear i saw some bad reviews regarding UPS . . . so I was wondering which is the cheapest but safest way in order for me to get my frame sliders -.- Should i FedEx it?? No experience whatsoever so i'm not sure if i'm getting troled by this guy or not lmao any input will be greatly appreciated.

I ship all my stuff to http://www.USaddressinc.com, they are right over the Lewiston border. They charge $5 per package, and if the value is low (or even declared at all) you can forget about paying duty fees or brokerage.

I go there all the time...you just need to register with them prior to...

that is a really high shipping rate for frame sliders, none the less, you do not want UPS, always USPS.

http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html

Assuming you paid, say just over $100 for the frame sliders (no idea, just a guess), you'd pay $32 shipping + $13 tax + $29 brokerage fee. That would be $74 just to get to your house. USPS sometimes you get lucky and they don't charge you any tax on low cost items under $100, over $100 I think its usually $8 flat rate now. Used to be $5, + HST on the value of the item.

Last month I purchased something from ebay, only form of shipping was UPS, but I needed this item. Contacted seller, said 'no problem' to ship USPS, but would charge me same shipping, I didn't care. You deal with UPS once and their silly brokerage fees and you'll gouge out your own eyes with a dull spoon before you do it again.

so yeah. USPS. That is all.

alrite thank everyone for the fast responses! Yeah I told him USPS and hopefully he will go through! paid like $180 including shipping for these shogun no cut frame sliders. I knew there was a thread hating UPS hahaha just couldnt pick up anything on the search, appreciate it everyone

Thanks for the offer ShanehSMP i just really want to have these sliders to me asap but i'll definately let you know for anything in the future!! appreciate it!

Why not get it @ Bluestreak? They sell for $180 and it arrives next day depending on if they have stock.

+1 for USPS. UPS will ding you hard on brokerage fees, which you usually have to pay on delivery.

This. I went UPS once and paid $60 in brokerage for a pair of jeans that only cost like like $40.

aw man you shouldn't cancel it. Once the auction ends, the deal is sealed he has to ship you the item or else he will have a record in his account. just tell him to ship it or you will report to ebay. saving you all the hassle.

So he should be an ******* with a seller that sounds like he's trying his best to make things right? Nice attitude.

OP - UPS sucks donkey balls.

UPS will end up being more expensive and will also find some way to damage your item on the way. NEVER use UPS (pronounced OOPS).

yea i'll chime in as well, ship USPS priority or NOTHING,
you can buy something for 20 dollars and ship by UPS then pay 60 upward for customs and other BS

USPS priority usually gives tracking as well

Something else to consider... There's an added level of security when purchasing through ebay. By canceling the transaction and going through paypal the exchange could appear as though you're just giving him money for nothing and he could end up sending you nothing. There are a crap load of scammers out there.

That said, nothing about his msg sounds too suspicious except that it happened at all. He probably just factored part of his profit into the shipping markup and goofed. I'm all for giving benefit of the doubt but I'm with Elton on this one. It's the seller's responsibility to do the proper research and honour the price that was agreed to. Either way, make sure you get a receipt.

Once I received a "free gift" from a motorcycle vendor from the states. I had to pay the UPS guy $20 for the item at the door!

In fact he actually asked for $18.xx so I gave him a $20 bill, but that's when he pretentiously said he doesn't carry change. WTF?! I will NEVER AGAIN involuntarily 'tip' my UPS guy.

UPS = **** NO!!!

i've got a ton of stuff from thailand. i just use the regular post out of thailand. the vendors i deal with there alway check off gift on the label never paid a cent after the fact. the down side is i tend to forget i've ordered the stuff but the time it gets here

What if you're ordering from overseas? USPS is not an option then. So what's the next best?

Look into that country's post system. I've used Royal Post without issue. If none worthwhile exists, then I'd choose ANY shipper OTHER THAN UPS. Yes, I despise them THAT much.
