UPS : if I don't pay what happens

Well I ordered a Screaming Banshee horn due to the fact they had a free shipping promotion going on for fathers day. The horn is 99.99. The UPS thieves arrived at my house with the item but I wasn't home so they left a notice. The UPS bill was 58 effing dollars! I usually will never order anything that will use UPS but in this case I thought everything was free. The note said that they will try to deliver a total of 3 times then it gets sent back. Does anyone know what happens if I just ignore them and let them return it? Will they still be after me for the 58 bucks? Then I just let Screaming Bsnshee know it's coming back and get my 99.99 back? Or do I just suck it up and pay and kick my *** for paying 160 bucks for something I could have hot cheaper? Or just pay it andknow that my horn now is more likely to save my life if I need it? Anybody else tried to get out of UPS charges??

It'll be sent back to the seller. You can also decline the fees at your door when it's delivered and the same thing happens. Contact the seller, explain what happened and ask for the item to be sent by USPS.

in the future... read the details....

normally those free shipping offers on US sites apply to the 48 contiguous states... as soon as it goes international, they say that there will be extra charges, and it'll say what shipping company they use. normally you have to request it to be sent USPS, as stated above, its cheaper.

I won't use UPS anymore due to their broker fees I bought a part for $50 dollars from the US that was normally $75 in Canada and when they came to my door they wanted an $80 fee. I refused it and called their customer service number the delivery guy gave me, I was as pleasant as i could be under the circumstances and the girl I was talking too gave me a reduced rate. My total wound up being $75 dollars. If they won't ship USPS I won't bother ordering now.

I heard that if you don't want to pay the broker fees u can ask them at the door to hold your package at ups facility while u go to customs office and pay customs fees directly. Then u can take paperwork to ups facility and claim ur package.

If they won't ship USPS I won't bother ordering now.

+1

I think iLife safe to say that we aren't ordering unique items for the most part. So there's usually another company to purchase from that will ship USPS.

UPS....U PAY Severely is what it should stand for.
A few years ago I ordered some Andies fishing line cause at the time you could not get it up here.
2 spools $14.95 each.
With exchange, shipping, and broker fees it cost me $130.
I avoid UPS at all cost and if its coming from the states i have it shipped to a friend first who then in turn sends it up here.
FedEx....or i go get it myself

Lol, 4 real, i'll share a toast to that wit u! The M/C community needs to establish our own gear smuggling routes, stuffing leathers and helmets inside of car tires and s**t to get across the border, what we pay for stuff here is criminal!

Really good info. I just bought some levers off ebay for $15 and the bastards shipped it UPS! If any funny stuff show up I'll be protesting!

I know a guy who loved trying every scam in the book. Not sure how much much truth there is to this, but he'd tell me he could order somethign under a slightly different name, and when UPS guy comes, get the package, say you can pay with credit card. You write down number of a Visa Gift Card or something, and they'd release the package to you. The delivery man would write down the number on this form and then hand it in at the end of his shift, so he had no way of verifying if the card would go through or not. A few weeks later, John "Sith" starts getting letter from collections for the unpaid balance..John Sith does not live here sir... good luck finding him.
Again, I have no idea wether this guy is genious or a total ***********.

That is BS, they have wireless credit card machines. Atleast the driver who came here last did.

I've done this previously. It works. Saved myself the $60+ that UPS was charging. It wasn't an easy process. UPS didn't want to email/fax me the invoice I needed, they knew I wanted to self-clear the package. I just kept calling until someone finally sent me the invoice. With the invoice you go to a CBSA office and pay the taxes on the goods you purchased. You tell the office to fill out a B15 form which proves you paid the taxes, then fax that to UPS who will waive all their fees!!!

I won't refuse to buy things shipping with UPS in the future. You just gotta know the process involved. At least with UPS you get your stuff fast.
