Undertail Exhausts

It looks great, but does it result in a noticable increase in temperature on the seat? Specifically asking with regards to a Duc.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure if you had a Titanium or CF can you wouldn't feel much heat.

To the other posters, what bikes? For myself. My hypermotard gets uncomfortably warm sometimes. But i also wear full leathers.

ZX636: No extra heat felt, for the rider. Passenger may be a different story.

i ride a fz6. dont feel any heat from the exhaust. in the summer i wear full leathers for most rides. i have also ridden a 636 for a few hours. felt no heat from it either. sitting in traffic you might feel engine heat, but you will with any bike.

Don't kid yourself, not all bikes are equal. My old TLR in hot weather was the equivilent of sitting your testicles on a skillet over an open flame.

I got a 1000rr. Stock pipes replaced with CF Yosh. I had to remove the heat shield for the yosh but u wrapped my pipes with heat wrap/ used metal heat tape on the under body.... Dont feel a thing

Specifically to my 1198 with stock cans (the 1198 has the cats in the cans) it will burn your thighs sitting on the seat in full leathers at a light on a hot day. Changing to CF cans fixed this right up now it is just hot, it is not actually burning you.

I doubt the heat you were feeling was from the cans themselves... though perhaps the stock ones just retained a bunch more heat.

In any case, even on bikes which are known to be hot, the answer is always an aftermarket exhaust and perhaps some heat wrap. I have two undertail cans on my KTM, don't feel a damn thing...

04 R1, with termi exhaust with a hollowed out cat, heat not a issue for me..

Is this the thread about no trunk space? I also have that problem... But heat is no issue

zx6r. no issue with heat from the undertail

MV F4 my only issue is the heat issues from the downpipe which creates a lot of heat on the ridge side of my leg. No heat issue with the undertail as the MV comes with a heatshield
I use to own a CBR 1000RR with first a yoshimura purchase some heatshield from the hardware store and pasted in the undertail no head issue after the switching to a Jardine no heat on the undertail. However still had the head issue from the downpipe burning my right leg also.

My KTM has stainless steel undertail pipes...with a cat in each pipe. You could roast hotdogs beside the pipes an hr after the bike has been shut off. INSANE heat!
I can't wait to get aftermarket pipes without cats. Loose 30 lbs and get rid of the heat all in one mod!
