Underground garage door opening strips, the scooter can't switch them on

Hey all.

Just a oddball question.

I have 08 Kymco 125cc scooter that is parked in a underground lot at my apartment.

I have too garage doors that I need to pass through to get out of it. (Getting in uses the key, so no issue)

The problem is both doors open only by stepping over a hose/strip that is layed out right before the door.

A car/van/truck has no problems with the hose/strip.

However my scooter does. No matter how many times I run over the hose/strip the doors won't open.
Only way for me to get out is to wait for a car to trip the hose/strip just before me so I can get out too.

For all you condo or apt dwellers, is there a solution to this?

Thanks in advance.

Just stepping on that should work.

Same problem with my learner 250, heck just stomped on the air hose.....near start of hose usually activates the air pressure a little easier.
No problemo with my Sportster :) ( soorry people frown when I mention Sports)

Some automatic underground garage doors will have a button panel on the inside you can use to manually trigger the door. Usually getting *in* is the problem.

Talk to the super or landlord or whatever they call them and see if you can get a manual clicker or something.

What I found works is pulling up so you stop with your foot over it, then using the combined weight of yourself and the bike/scooter to 'jump' on the cable. Worked 8 times out of 10 for me (160lbs) & my CBR250RA (370lbs).

Stepping on it, sometimes hard with my heel, is what worked for me.

These are usually older buildings with no remote option. My building has a keypad to get in, that is an actual key that you insert and turn, and just the hose to get out.

These type of inconveniences blow. I think I'm starting to appreciate how people in wheelchairs feel. We need to stand up for our rights. If you can.

There has to be a manual switch or button to press. I had the same issue in a building. The button was right on the motor to open the door, could stop directly under it so I didn't need to get off the bike.
