tsk tsk.

I guess 18km/h shy of double the limit didnt sound as exciting as double the limit.

But hey... if you lower the speed limits, YOU KNOW (without any studies) things will be safer, right?

Well.. You can outrun a car that moves at 5km/h, which is a lot safer than trying to outrun a car that moves at 50. A car going 80km/h can run over your kids playing in the middle of the highway while coming back from school. Think of the children!!

"Domo arigato mr. Copato" Maybe just use that as your new phrase.... it's more catchy. :D

Can you prove that you have any need to be on a highway in the first place? You should be staying at home and watching Canadian content on TV. Or at least writing letters to your MPP to make our province the safest environment for the children.

Instead of a mandatory suspension/impound, they should make you put a car tire on the rear of your bike for X weeks. That will make the bike so ill handling you won't want to do the speed limit, let alone exceed it.

I thought this was funny as hell.

I still find it amazing how they can just drop the speed limits on roads on a whim with no engineering or traffic study, which might make the road even MORE dangerous. They have done studies in the UK and the US that show just that. But hey... if you lower the speed limits, YOU KNOW (without any studies) things will be safer, right? They think they do, but having absurd limits, you bunch up traffic, which makes some drivers impatient and then you get accidents.

Ahhh - but it's all good.... except now if you are doing 100 in a 50 zone that should be an 80 zone.... instead of not getting a ticket you can bend over.... just saying.

It seems the decision makers have forgotten why we have roads in the first place - to move traffic. They just keep coming up with more ways to slow traffic down. Which, if you know anything about it, just makes the drivers all more frustrated which leads to them all trying to find ways to get through the traffic which leads to them making stupid decisions which leads to more accidents. For example, the increase in the number of people running red lights. If you recognize that the whole purpose of roads is to promote traffic flow, you would realize that trying to suppress and slow it down is not in the public's best interest. The best thing to do is to improve the flow. This could be helped by using more appropriate speed limits for the roadways. There are places I drive where the speed limit is 80 when 100 or even 120 would be safely navigable. Others, the limit is 80 or even 60 and should be significantly lower but it isn't a good fishing spot for the coppers so the speed limit is too high, IMO.

But I forgot, we have to think of the children. Everyone should dive 60 kph or less. Except for cops of course.

I'm guessing you're almost 30? lol Seems unheard of these days.
My parents/teachers told me the same thing, but where I grew up we didn't have dedicated school buses or school zones with 5km/h speed limit "when flashing".
You're making me feel old! I'm only 27 (28 in a month... s**t, I am old).

let alone ride it.. cuz it will look like s***

IMO the irony of the whole thing is how people bombing around parking lots, tiny residential roads etc.... at 50 which in many cases is kinda too fast, but they go the same speed on a wide open country road. It makes no sense.

I have noticed that people like to race through parking lots, going diagonally at speed and so on. I think it's actually safer to drive on a highway.. lol

Then you put a sidecar on it and say that it was like that when you got it.

Now, a car tire on the front wheel...

They could make you ride a bike that was designed at a tupperware party as well, then you will really want to stay under the speed limit.
Imagine a tupperware bike with a car tire who would ride that.

Where do they have a 5 km/h speed limit "when flashing"?

I guess I should count myself lucky for what I did a couple days ago. I need to find a way to send my officer a christmas card this year.

ok, maybe i am a little confused...it says he was no longer a "traffic services officer" since 1997...so is he still a cop?...or was he impersonating a cop...it's late...i'm tired...

He left TPS in 1997. He must have joined the Peel force after that.
