truck shops..

My brother had his avalanche serviced at Hogan Chev Olds on Sheppard in Scarborough. He was at 140K km's on his 2007 when it was giving him issues (5.3 V8 LTZ). They had no issues doing it all under warranty.

Kinda off topic, but Ford Yonge & Steeles quoted me 1hr labour = $125 for updating the SYNC (radio), from v2.0 to v2.1, which on the Ford.com web stated as 8mins work. I talked to the service department, how it's supposed to be 8mins, he said "nooo, that's not always accurate, it's 1hr".

****ing idiots.

Yeah. Dont get me started on those knuckleheads.

Everytime i walk in there its someone different at the counter. If your having issues talk to Navin hes the Service manager.
And if im not mistaken, you can update SYNC yourself. Just need a USB stick .. but that could be the older version.

I talked to Ford Customer Service of Canada, and they told me how this update must be done by the stealership. I asked whether it involves hardware, they said no, but this specific v2.0 -> v2.1 software update can be downloaded only by the them :bs:

I've still got a 2000 Sierra with the 5.3 V8. 500K km's. Engine's been bulletproof, no issues. Only 'oil' thing, was when my dad took it to one of those quickylube places, and they reefed the drain plug bolt, ruining the oil pan. Had to replace that, otherwise, it's been regular maintenance (oil, plugs, etc).
Rebuilt the rear at 350K km. That trucks been working hard every day, since it left the lot 13 years ago.

Never had any oil problems and have had a few 5.3s my current canyon has one.

what??? They stuffed the big v-8 in a canyon????

They did its perfect for me, takes up less space in the driveway than a full size and tow my ish around. :)

They also put a v8 in the h3, aka the alpha. Almost the same as in the Grand Prix and impala. Gm has been putting engines in places they don't belong for years!

Look up an h1 alpha and you'll understand...

Does that colorado/canyon have the 5.3 with the 6 speed auto or the 4 speed auto?

It sucks that the colorado's are almost the same price as the sierra's. But Big motor + light truck = best of all worlds. I've always loved mini-trucks....
