Triumph sprint experience

I'm considering selling or trading my gold wing for a sprint st. Looking at two right now, a 2000 and a 98. Both have bags etc. Any insights as to differences, reliability, parts? Haven't closed my mind to other options (st1100,concours, etc) but my budget will be $3-4000, so it will rule out newer bikes. I like the comfort/convenience of the wing, but don't tour or ride two up very often so it's a lot of bike.

an awesome, affordable, and highly under-rated is the 198?-2006? concours, the old gen one.

dirt cheap, runs forever, massive aftermarket, supercomfortable.

just throw on stainless brake lines before anything.

Agreed, also looking at a 98 Connie. They are dated looking, but everything I read says it'd be good for me. I had a 99 bandit 1200s, not much wind protection and lack of a 6th gear bugged me. Like the looks of the trophy. Definitely want bags, bigger fairing, and decent performance.

Since the question was about a Sprint ST I will respond to that. I had a 1999 version with the 955 engine. This bike was a blast to ride as it has a lot of low RPM torque and can really scream in the higher revs. Another great bonus was it's a lot lighter than most sport-tour bikes and got me 56 MPG. It proved to be extremely reliable, and fun....can't go wrong. I did need to order a clutch cable once, came from England in 5 days...not too bad

Thanks for the info. How was it on longish trips? Say, 5-800 km days, 3 days running?
