Trackday at TMP - May 3rd

Sometimes it's best to just stay behind a slower rider until it is 110% safe to pass IE get him at the front of the straight away or don't push yourself trying to outbrake him. Looks like you just got in a little over your head. Very nice save though.

Did the same thing after my lowside too, sat there collected myself and just laughed it up.

Hah, yea that's pretty much exactly what happened. lesson learned!

Finally got around to uploading my low-side crash. Here it is :

Wow, you had a full day.

What do you figure caused the lowside? Not obvious from the video. I went down last year about 15 feet farther around 9, and never did know exactly why.

I think the main cause of the low-side was riding the edge of my street tires due to bad body positioning. Here is what I posted earlier:

... low-sided at turn 11 nearing the end of the day. After replaying it over in my head and reviewing the video of the incident, I believe the cause of the low-side was riding the edge of my street tires which didn't provide efficient grip (Pilot Road 2s). If I had properly adjusted my body-positioning (which I still have to work on), I could have probably avoided the situation completely. Luckily my sliders had done an incredible job of saving my motorcycle from any serious damage. The only damage I was able to find was a bent rear brake-lever and a minor blemish on the exhaust can; the tank, fairings, and clutch cover were all untouched. Surprisingly even the bar-ends were left unscathed.

I believe another contributing factor as to why I went down during that turn, and not any of the other turns was that I decided to take a late turn-in entry line. I had seen other more experience riders take the later turn-in line and thought I would give it a try. I had done it well for a couple of laps, though I may have overdone it that time (pushed too far on the inside handlebar) resulting with too much bike lean. I'm hoping the next time I'm on the track, I have fewer 'interesting' situations :)
