Track/Race Bike. What to look for?

Curious for a track bike... do we have a place track bikes are posted for sale In ontario?

Found it.

It is a Y38 customs form. Looks like it is only good on bikes originally from canada, or those with no VIN.

My track bike is an ex US salvage bike. I exported it the correct way. I imported it as a parts only bike. I have a Y38 form. The Y38 form is primarily a way of showing Canada Customs that the bikes journey originated in Canada and is returning to Canada. Which means they aren't going to try and charge you tax on it. It will work for any bike without original Canadian ownership.

Incidentally, my track bikes for sale;

That works for Canada Customs, but I got pulled for having a US bike with a US title and no proof that it was exported to Canada. US Immigration could care less about the Y38, as far as they are concerned if you try to bring it in they will impound it. But if you're nice, they let you do the 48 hour application to export, BUT you need to have a US citizen sponsor or at least a Social Security number or you are not allowed to export from the US. Paperwork drove me crazy. Never again. Now I have Ontario ownership, no issues. Your experience may be different to mine, at least I hope it is.

Taking advice from this thread, i've tracked down some sub 2k bikes that seem to be already fit for duty. I was wondering out of the 4 bikes i've narrowed down which would be the best choice and what should i be looking out for or ask about.

1) 1999 CBR600 F4

2) 1999 CBR600 F4

3) 2002 R6

4) 2004 ZX10R

Preference would be best bang for buck while keeping in mind the maintenance also. Thanks!

R6 hands down. Arguably the best 600 SS of the era. Spares are cheap and plentiful. Take a look at the podium in lost era light over the past three years, more often than not there were three 99-02 R6s up there...mine, omnivore's and outtacontrol's included

Thanks for the advice. I'll contact the r6 owner and inquire a bit more. Is there anything specific in this gen of the r6 I should look out for?

Too bad I don't think there are any reputable motorcycle shops near that seller in brighton, it would be great if I could have a second opinion.

The yellow F4 in my mind is a better bike, was raced at SOAR so the bike has some history.

Also has more add-on's/goodies than the R6's.

Don't have to worry about a missing 2nd gear on the Honda ;)

Downside to owning a Honda, that particular generation looks like it was beat with an ugly stick compared to the R6.

Hahahaha. I could care less about the f4 being beat with the ugly stick. I'm not in it atm to win a contest on how good looking or fast a bike is ATM. Its really important to me to find a bike that I can easily repair / maintain and have an enjoyable learning experience with.

I'm more concerned with finding a good tool that will help me develop my rider skill with good addons if possible. That ks for the input! I appreciate it!

It looks like the r6 may have been sold as he or she has not replied. However, the yellow CBR is available. Owner said he bought in 2012 and only tracked it once last year. Bike was from a soar racer.

The R6. The phone is listed so give them a call and see. Also I'd check the wera classifieds, might find something a hell of a lot newer for just a bit more money than those bikes.

Thanks for the idea on checking out the wera classifieds. I'll give the r6 owner a call, completely went over my head that they listed their number.
