Track prep - my checklist

Get gas at Indian reserve 10 mins from Cayuga close to 8-10 cents a litre cheaper. I fill on way there and top everything up on way back can save a few bucks and not out of the way.

I use only 91 from Shell (no ethanol). I don't know why, but been doing that forever and will hurt my feelings if i do it otherwise.. The car is a different story---thanks for the tip :)

This is a great list, but that is way more than I could keep in my head at once....good way to ruin a decent golf swing!

My approach is to pick one (or maybe two) things of that nature to be conscious of per session...and then work on them until I am doing them unconsciously - then pick something else. Perhaps I lack your RAM.
Same here, body position and braking points are the two things I am working on this season

This packing sh*t is becoming really annoying... I don't own things that are not useful, and everything I see around the garage or basement has some potential use at the track, damnit.... screw this list and everything, i'll pack in the morning when I don't have time for it.

this is why my buddy uses a old work van, he has all his tools and everything inside already, including his bike !
corsara , your freaking excited eh! get some sleep tonight lol

Meh, i'm hitting the bars with my buddy tonight, Wednesday is my night off (from family) :) Which is good, considering the fact I'm never able to sleep before a track day. Better in the bar than turning around all night long

lol all these months of meticulous preparation and detail on the position of every zip tie so you can show up to the track tired and perhaps hang over from the night before?

I kid I kid, I am sure you are only going to have one beer and go to bed early :)

just a suggestion, you may want to consider having a few spares made for the bike and always keep one in the toolbox, just in case. You mentioned drinks, but to be specific, bring a 24 case of water, the little bottles are nice to have.

Make sure your socket set includes the socket for your rear swing arm (which i possibly an additional socket).

What kind of trouble you expecting bringing a fire extinguisher? yikes :p

don't really need safety wire unless its a race day, you can, but you don't really "need" it. I would also leave the IR gun at home, they only measure surface temperature. Put the warmers on for 45 min in the morning (assuming their tech shows up on time for once), feel them to make sure they are warm before you go out.

make sure the water is de-ionized/distilled water of course ($2/4L @ CT), tap water will leave deposits.

And don't forget some deoderant and a change of clothes, especially if your riding with someone ;)

And remember, don't over think it, just ride your best.

I have a checklist I stole from somewhere. I print one out for every track day, saved my bacon a few times :)

Haha, yeah, you're right---a dinner, a beer or two, then home before midnight for sure, nothing excessive, hell no! :)

Zx , he will have good reason for being slow ! I kid I kid

I'm busted!

Don't really know. It was highly recommended in one of the threads here during the winter...burning fiberglass, bikes, people, dunno... i have one laying around in the garage, so why not.. on a second though, maybe I should leave it at home in case house gets on fire while i'm gone...hmmm

I always bring an extinguisher, may not be your bike but I'd hate to see someone elses burn down while we all stood around with marshmellows. Get a small one and keep it in your tow vehicle.

I've had a bike catch fire on me and no fire extinguisher around. I carry 2 in my trailer (which need recharging). Bearing in mind I also use a propane grill I'd rather err on the side of caution.

Think I'm gonna throw a fire extinguisher in the truck since you guys brought it up. Good idea for so many reasons.

Don't forget some clean gitch! I don't know how much you sweat in your leathers, but there is few things better than putting on some dry underwear that isn't full of sand... Baby wipes are always nice to clean up with as well.

Never forget water, and on hot days a gatorade will do you good.

I have a larger trailer (7x12) so I built a full on work bench in the front and mounted my tool chest to it. Aside from a major engine failure or suspension issue, there isn't much I can't fix at the track. The benefit of that, is that since I'm so anal about how I pack, if something is missing, I will notice it when I do my final check before I leave.
Under the bench is perfect for storage.

I suggest packing the same way every single time. Do a pre-pack a few days before your first time out to figure it out how you can maximize space, and take your time playing trailer tetris. If you pack everything in the same order each time, you're less likely to miss something.

My trailer is jammed to the teets now that I have added a pressure washer, a 50 gallon drum for water and a 2nd pedal bike for the gf to use around the pits... You can always find space! Use of vertical space is good.

I know it's good to be prepared but damn...
Some of you guys are putting way too much thought into this.
It's either that or I'm just nowhere near "prepared". lol
