Track for Newbie

Racer5 is a good place to start. you are on 125 so you don't kill yourself either. :D

125's FTW!!!:blob6::blob6::blob6::blob6:

You guys are jerks. Cant help but notice this place has taken a noticeable turn for the better in the last year or so.

All i have to add to this thread is that crashing street bikes is wicked expensive. Just saying.

now that u have the bug you and your bf will have to go to calabogie a world from cayuga

I want to stick to tmp for the rest of the year and get more comfortable with the track before tackling Bogie or even Mosport.

I've heard mosport requires man parts. Still searching for mine so i can do a day there.

Mosport has concrete strips that you must avoid better to have experience. But bogie is ideal. Pro6 are awesome and will ride with you all day if you ask. A full day of instuction for 30bucks is hard to beat!

I am not sure what you are talking about! but to clarify

I didn't see any concrete strips at Mosport, there are concrete walls and strips of pavement on some patches but you best to ignore them

Also, the 30 bucks is not for an "all day instruction" is called intro to track, they will have an instructor ride in front of you for the first two sessions at a fairly slow pace in order to get you used to the track and learn the lines at a good comfortable pace, they may even give you some tips but that is not what the 30 bucks is for and shouldn't be expected. This is also a requirement for anyone that has never been at Mosport and as much as piss me off having to do 1 slow session, it was highly recommended since i learned the lines by someone that knows the track.

I've seen better - I took my friend to a racer 5 lapping/track school day and she asked scott rupert for a couple of tips. He ended up providing her 1 on 1 coaching for the entire day for free. I think she got better value from that track day than anyone who actually paid for the course lol. (but like paulo mentioned, this should not be expected)

lol I think I know who you are referring to, but she said she is done tracking for the year tho.

We always have at least one control rider that is there for nothing else but to help people around the track.

That particular day we had Scott Rupert, Mike Bevan, Paul Skene and Attila Kovacs. (most days we just have one or two dedictated control riders)

Its blows my mind how nobody ever takes advantage of the superstar selection of control riders we provide for FREE on our trackdays. LOL :)
I don't think Scott went out with her for more than 3 or 4 sessions which is what I make sure my control riders do.
She made HUGE gains from what I remeber.

Still not nearly as much attention as your friend would have gotten in one of our courses definetly as much as some other courses out there.

Fawaz, that's true and I apologize for suggesting that she might have received more value out the track day than taking the course. The access to such amazing control riders is just one of the things that makes your track days so good.

Maybe that's because we don't know it's available to us? At the riders' meeting there is *sometimes* mention of "oh, if you're new to the track we have guys who can lead you around for a few laps" or words to that effect. I got the impression that that was for green group people who were totally....well....green. One of your guys (Andrew I think) towed my brother around on his first day, first session, and he was awesome, providing all sort of helpful advice.

If that kind of help is also available to intermediate riders, and we were made aware of it, I am sure there would be plenty of takers.

Sorry about the confusion but I do try and mention it as clearly as possible, sometimes the events of the day might cause me to forget if I have.
To be honest I have been flogging it for a long long time and the lukewarm respose is probably why I just mention it only briefly at the riders meeting.
I do mention it as a FEW laps because I don't want to give people the impression that they are going to get a school day out of a trackday.
The caliber of riders that we bring would be a benefit to riders from any group, not just the green.

Come let me know next time.... All the fast guys Racer5 guys there are for you guys! :)
