Track Day Help!

Hi everyone,

I want to start improving my riding skills and going to some track days....I'm not sure which ones are beginner friendly but I'm still looking around!

The only snag is I can't think of any way to transport my bike. I don't really want to ride it there because of the modifications you have to make and if you smash it...well getting home becomes fun...

No room to store a trailer at my apartment, any ideas?

Thanks,

Jay

Rent a trailer. Many kijiji ads out there. Also uhaul. Try hooking up with some people here for share rides.

I'm currently in port credit area. I could always throw a trailer hitch on my civic if I new someone with a trailer....I'll check kijiji though thanks!

I did my first track day at Shannonville with Rider's Choice this past Wednesday.
The first couple of session you are following a control rider around, they show you the lines and in the afternoon you're on your own.
You can always ask other riders for help if you feel like you need it. I was following Bakaboy's kids at one point (age 11-13?) with no shame. lol
We were supposed to be running Fabi but ended running the Long track and it was freaking awesome.

If you're still not comfortable after the first few sessions, you can ask anyone to help out and someone always will.
The friendliest bunch of people I ever met.

As for the trailer goes, I rented a U-haul motorcycle trailer for $15 and towed it with a Nissan Pathfinder.
Or you can stuff it in a minivan, I did both, but I found easier with the trailer, as I have all the room I need in the truck for everything else.

uhaul has 14 dollar motorcycle trailer rentals this is without insurance.

Did the U-Haul trailer come with all the straps? Or should I pick those up at c-tire before I rent one.

Also, what things should I consider purchasing and bringing before my first track day. I've read a bit online about what modifications I have to make but a list from experienced track riders will be amazing!

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Jay

^^ Insurance is 10 bucks more. Overall, a great deal if you don't have your own trailer.

So I used uHaul a few times for trackdays last year, then bought my own. The only problem I found with uHaul is that you need to pick it up at the end of the previous day, because they aren't open on the trackday morning when you have to leave (very early). Consequently, you need to make sure you're back in time to return it (on your track day itself), so you might have to leave earlier and miss a session or two.

I bought my straps from Blue Streak Racing when I placed a large order a while back, but you can get them pretty much anywhere.
CT sells them, U-haul sells them and they're fairly cheap.

I'm far from an experienced track rider, but I'll give you a run down of what I brought.

- Gear (Leathers, helmet, boots, gloves and undergear)
- Cooler (ice, water, gatorade and red bull)
- Food/snacks
- Mastercraft tool set (didn't even open it)
- Front and rear stands and a wheel chock
- Chain cleaner, lube, rags, oil, brake cleaner, etc.
- Sunscreen, insect repellent
- Extra t shirt, socks
- Extra fuel

I brought an extra set of gloves and a helmet, but I won't be doing that again. I overpacked because it was my first track day and I didn't want to be missing anything. Now I know a little better and the list I have above is going to be my check list every time.

Close enough, lol.. I will see you there. Are you doing anything before then?
I still have a lot to learn, I barely used my brakes.

No track days before. CSBK in Montreal next weekend.

You can add a can of Plexus, and something to clean the bug guts off your suit :) Especially this time of year!

OP, if you go the UHaul route, ask if they have their OWN trailers and not the vagabond ones. I rented for a couple years and found this to be the only way to ensure the trailer was there when I wanted it. Also, I never got charged a second day when I dropped it off after hours.

Oh, BTW I dragged it with my Civic too. No problem.

Will see you guys on the 11th!
John.

Awesome thanks guys!!

So I think the Uhaul route will be my method...Does anyone know of a place to rent full leathers? I haven't bought mine quite yet. I send a email to RACER5 hoping they do, but any others?

Could a 4x9 trailer fit two sport bikes??

mine has about half a foot from the bike to the side of the trailer with 2 bikes, maybe if you put one up front and the other in the middle might work
EDIT I use a 10x5 trailer
