Total loss on my bike...looking for the next one

So, my bike's a total loss, and I'm searching for a new one...

I know..there are a ton of these threads in here, however, I'm needing a bit of specific help...due to the INSANE insurance rates on the bikes I actually do want (Honda F4i, or the Triumph Daytona 675R) I'm going to have to go with a bike that's classed as a "sport touring" bike. I would love another Ninja 650R but am considering other bikes.

Other than the Yami FZ6R, and Fazer 8 or the SV, can anyone list other bikes they know to be considered "sport touring"? New or old?

I know that the '03-'04 ninja ZZR (the predecessor to the Ninja Zx6R) is considered a sport touring bike. Any others like this?

Hey Sushi! I'm glad you're okay. Sorry to hear about your bike, though.

The VFRs are usually considered sport touring bikes. I'd also maybe look into the Honda 919. Looks like a cruiser but it isn't haha.

Also, I read on here once that if you get an old SS bike, some insurance companies will wave the SS premium.

GSX 650 F, VFR 800, Hornet 599 (naked) if you can find one.

At least this is a good time to be looking for a bike, enjoy the shopping.

Assuming you're looking at full fairings, the only ones I can think of that you're missing are:

Honda VFR 800
Suzuki Katana

edit: looks like I was beaten to the punch

The 2007 ZZR600 I had was similar in insurance to the 2009 FZ6R the wife rides. Switching to the street triple saw an increase of about 20%.

Hoah! How'd it happen?

I think I saw you riding that same day along Eglinton turning North on Don Mills.

The FZ6 is a sport tourer with the R6 motor in it ... rates were cheap, I had my old one insured for 700 / year full cov.

do you have a CC limit you are looking at ? or particular weight, etc? Kawi Z750(s or non-s) also a sports tourer

should also check the speed triple (R version is basically a stripped down daytona)

due to the INSANE insurance rates on the bikes
How old are you? Have you got some quotes from State Farm? Their rates are amazing on SS's!! My GF who just got her bike license three months ago insured her 09 R6 for $137/mo! I just got my 09 R6S for $117/mo with not such a stellar driving record :)

Call Katherine at (866) 930-1221 or e-mail Katherine@greglewis.ca for an instant quote, and if it looks good she can have your pink slip in your hands in under an hour. It's totally insane! You don't need VIN#'s to get a quote, just give here your drivers license # and say "09 R6" and boom, she can quote you. Do $1000/$1000/$2M, no life insurance, no combo deals with home or car.

She is magic man, pure magic!!!

Hunt around for a good deal, there are LOTS right now, people don't want to store for the winter, etc.

LOL>..that's WAY outta my price range
I will tell you the same thing I told my GF (Xtina). Why save for a house when you can have a bigger bike!?

*NOTE: Take this financial planning advice at your own risk.

It's too bad they only insure G license holders. :/

Yeah, a little wacky for sure! How hard is it for you to get your G??

DON'T bother with the FZ6R... Really hate that they attempted to name it very similar to the FZ6 but it's nothing like the FZ6 which is, a superior bike.
FZ6 has more power, not as cramped up, looks unique, has more aftermarket options etc. Better materials for construction... Can't believe they killed the FZ6 for that cookie cutter "R"

Get a 06-08 ZZR600 its part for part a 2002 ZX6R minus the ugly birdcage. Its a lot quicker then the sv I had and handles a whole lot better, supersport looks and performance for sport touring price. I'm loving mine right now and I've had a sv and a katana. My insurance didn't change at all because it is in the same class as my old sv650

Its carbed but I got over it
