Its about quality of riding, you can always super slab it to get there, but to me, thats soul sucking and not why I ride. Each to there own, but I would rather take the long way there if it meant better scenery and roads.

More stopping than riding eh? I'm not on some carbon seat here bud, and besides taking 5 minutes every 40 or so minutes of riding is fine when you are riding for 5 hours. DERP DERP

Sounds like fun. I've caged it back in one go, but cut through the U.S. ended up in Montreal around 8-9 pm.

Me and a buddy did Guelph to Cape Breton last May, terrible weather, and we did the round trip in 4 days. Last day we did Moncton to Guelph, stopped to get a new rear tire that was our main break other than gas... We were both on 2001 ZZR250s, it was a hell of a slog lol, but good story to tell (took the trans Canada most of the way, and basically never got off the bikes except to sleep).

DO EEEET.

The 250 is more than capable. I did a 6 hour ride not long ago cruising at about 120 the majority of the time. no problems whatsoever. Hoping to do longer ride either out east or west to thunder bay at some point this summer.

My only suggestion, would be to get a corbin saddle, or some sort of gel pad if the saddle is stock.. Stock saddle is hard as a rock and will hurt your *** like hell after a couple of hours. You might end up having to stop every hour and a half or 2 hours to stretch. Also get a throttle rocker. well worth the $10-15.

I'd have no questions the bike can do it, question is if you're going to have fun doing it. Have you done any long days (min 800km, 1k-1200 km preferable) on the bike so far?

Don't forget lots and lots of music to get you through. Warm cloths aren't a bad idea either, 15c gets cold real quick when you're sitting on a bike at highway speeds

you can't do it from Montreal to Halifax in a day. i suggest stopping in Fredericton NB.

Seriously? It's a 12 hr ride from Montreal to Halifax. Not too long if you and your bike are up for it. You start early in the morning and you are there in time for supper.

That being said, if I am starting from Toronto any time before noon I'd go further than Montreal. I used to stop in Montreal when I was leaving Toronto after work.

You can do it on the 250. Just get the maint part all up to date for the mileage you will be putting on. There's always people saying no, and, if, but. They're just making excuses.

I would do it, it can be done, but obviously a bigger bike would be better. Depending on what your comfortable with, for me thats an easy 2 day ride, but my GS is larger and a way more comfortable touring bike for trips like this.

If you always wait for the perfect bike, or the perfect this and that, you will never get anywhere. Its an adventure, enjoy it with what you have!

+1!!
