1. From Tupper Lake, go south to Blue Mountain lake and spend a few hours at the Museum, WELL worth it!
2. If you like a few twisty roads, from Gouvernour continue on route 58 to Ogdensburg then back on 12 to the bridge at 1,000 islands.

Looking at your map i see.....
1) After Lake Placid go a little south and take the 22, 9N and cross at Chimney Point from there take the 17 to Waterbury.
(FYI...there are 3 ferries that cross Lake Champlain so you don't have to go north around it)
2) In Gorham NH....you must go to the top of White Mountain
3) If your not in a hurry go past Bangor ME and spend a night in Bar Harbor

Bar harbor. Is worth the ride I just did lake George.( Americade rally)to Laconia new Hampshire. I'll check urban route. Tonight if I have a chance and post any suggestions. For the area you are going

If you come back into New York through Lake George, Run North Along the lake on 9N, to Route 8, turn left (Only way you can) and take route 8 over to route 28, then 28 north to Blue Mountain lake to the Museum before heading North on 30 as I mentioned above.

1. Since you will undoubtedly encounter bugs, I find it useful to keep a wet facecloth in a ziplock bag that you can use to wipe your visor clean- wash the cloth each night.
2. Don't forget your chargers for your electronics. Some extra clothes might help in case it's cold at night or during early morning starts.
3. If possible, fuel up before you find a place to sleep - that way you can start riding in the morning and cover more ground before your first stop.
4. Bring a camera and extra memory cards/batteries.
5. I usually make photocopies of my ID and put them in a ziplock bag on my bike (somewhere hidden - maybe velcroed to the interior of the fairing or toolkit compartment), in case I lose my wallet - add $50 in that bag for emergencies and also throw in a spare key for your bike.
6. I also bring a small headlamp in case I need a flashlight - it's better when your hands are free.
7. I don't know if you have a tinted and clear visor - but when I go for longer trips, I bring both.
8. I also like to travel with a camelback type knapsack that hold 2 litres of water. It's much nicer to drink while on the go than having to wait for stops. It's really light and doesn't make my shoulders sore like wearing a normal knapsack.
9. I usually bring more than one pair of riding gloves, because the weather can go from really warm to quite cold.

Sounds like fun - ride safe!

I think a can of bug spray can be good for times your stopped in wooded areas or if camping.

Also, the odd band-aid or polysporin cream to treat a cut or something never hurt.

I just got back recently from a ride thru the Adirondacks.
You need to adjust your map to include hiway 112 to Conway and do a ride up Mount Washington.
Hiway 112 is in incredible road following a river and Mount Washington is awesome on a bike.

Just in case the weather sucks you might plan an alternative down to the Annapolis Valley - warmer and lovely.

I would take the southern route through the states to the Adirondacks, or if you coming back that way. That stretch of the 401 is soul destroying... well all of it is. Old Forge is a nice town on the western side of the Adirondacks, nice lodging options as well as a very nice campground just outside of town, cannot remember the name, google will find it no problemo.

Doing this trip the Canada day long weekend, taking the same place you are from/to Essex, NY.

Mount Washington is awesome. and only $15 for motorcycles.
There are tons of low cost motels in the town of North Conway and plenty of good places to eat.
Lots of incredible roads too.
Make North Conway your base for a couple days and take time to explore the area.
Not motorcycle related but this place is amazing too..http://www.findlostriver.com/

I just got back. Skipped Gaspe because of the rain. 112 was amazing thanks for the suggestions. Didn't up either mountain because of the fog and rain but still had amazing time.
