Torn Between GSXR 750 & CBR 929 - SOS

Not exactly the same but I went from a 2002 GSXR600 to a 929. The 929 was a much better bike. Very reliable, great handling, great built quality but put some money aside for a steering dumper, it needs one.

Yep. ZX9R is an excellent machine.

Agreed. There's quite a few on kijiji right now for $2500 or so and it seems like a lot of the zx9r were taken good care of. Older more experienced owners maybe? I dunno.

"You lost 15 friends on motorcycles? and you have only been riding since 2008? was this a group ride that fell off a cliff or are you being serious?"-ZX600

I have a CBR 1100

I purchased the bike just after I turned 30. The bike was 16 years old when I bought it. Due to my age AND the age of the bike, insurance didn't tack on the "sport bike surcharge"

ZX9 if you're looking comfortable long rides.
How much different was the ZX9R than the same era ZX6R? They look awfully similar. I had an 01

I really really like my 929.
Mind you I am racing it- but it is a couch compared to my R6. Smooth, fast, easy for anyone to ride. Steering damper is a must on this bike.

GSX-R 750 is one of the best bikes ever made Resale on them is good to excellent. Not so much on the 929.

No idea where you get that from. Same year GSX-R 750 and CBR 929 sell for about the same, and I'd say CBR is actually worth a bit more if anything, according to ads on kijiji and sites like KBB. Hondas are one of the easiest vehicles to sell because of their reputation for reliability (true or not).

GSX-R may be more popular as a track bike but 919 is generally considered to be a better street bike (more low end and ergo comfort).

From your questions it sounds very much like this is either your first bike or a big step up from whatever you're riding. If that's true, neither are a good choice for you.

Irrelevant. 20 years and you get classic insurance rates.

Only if you actually purchase classic insurance. Or at least that's how it works for cars.

I vote fireblade, because my inner honda fanboy says so... Looks better too + honda reliability

My bother in law has a 2000 CBR 929rr in mint condition with only 15000km on it

The CBR 929 will be a better streetbike technically because of the better torque range. But it is no litre bike wrt power. A GSXR 750 of that same generation will be nearly as fast. My 01 GSXR 1K dyno'd 25 whp more than a 929.

Also, the 929 has a daft design where the swingarm attaches directly to the motor instead of the frame. As such, accidents where the swingarm takes a hit can break the engine cases which doesn't happen with other bikes, and a repair is pricey. That design didn't last very long on the blade, only 929 and 954. Got rid of it for the 1000rr.
