Toddler helmets?

Hi all. I have a coworker whose 3 year old is obsessed with motorcycles. Apparently he dresses up like one to go to school and tells everyone that he is a "Motorcycle dude". She's buying him some battery powered ducatti (?) for xmas, but says he really wants a helmet (lucky kid right?). Does anyone have any suggestions? It would have to fit him and be functional, but I doubt in needs to be DOT.

My daughter uses a full faced hockey helmet for her 4 wheeler.
It doesn't look the best but at the slow speeds they are going you don't need a super expensive helmet and it does the trick perfectly.

I think they're going for the "cool" factor.

With a cool factor the best your going to get is a Small Youths Helmet which probably wont fit properly and be more dangerous.

They would have to measure their head to make sure it comes close.

But hey you can't be cool without a little danger :D

Hopefully she'll find something at the show.

I seem to remember those 12-volt toy cars for kids (like the barbie car) came with some sort of helmets, but I can't find a link. Closest I came to finding one was for a 12-volt toy sold in the UK:

But I don't think you can buy the helmet separately...

Look around at the full face "BMX" helmets, they come in youth sizes and the cool factor is still there.

Jeffjones is correct - youth helms come in L/XL, and S/M which is a very small lid.
I've seen grade 2 kids who need the L/XL and can't even get the S/M on.
Kids heads are often disproportionately big compared to their body sizes...
If the kid's helmet in S/M is too big, they are definitely too young to participate.

My daughters head was tooo small for a youths small helmet when she got her 1st electric 4 wheeler but she was 2 and it would go walking speed so we bought her a Dora Bike Helmet.
But now that she has some speed under her we just got her the hockey helmet for now as she uses it for skating as well.

Thanks for the responses all.
