To exhaust or not to exhaust...

Poking around in search of a dyno chart. Seems that an Akra slip-on is a common thing to do. That will keep the stock header section and shouldn't affect how the bike runs too much. It'll need rejetting ... but Ninja 250 requires rejetting straight off the showroom floor with the stock exhaust (too lean down low), so no surprise there.

Not Akra but just to give an idea ... http://www.ninja250mods.com/ninja-250r-exhaust/

Will my shimmed needles with snorkel be good enough or does it need proper jetting? Buddy here has a used one for 450 but its 460 brand new and shipped from Petes...Bluestreak is saying 580.

Slip-on? Give it a go with what you've already got in the carbs and see what happens.

I actually like the 250/500 mod exhaust noise... but yes, some Youtube time would be good.

I say that if a pipe adds to your enjoyment of the bike, do it. Even if you'll replace it eventually, you'll spend hours on the thing...

Yep. You are talking about two more years on that bike.......$500 bones, pffttt, enjoy it now if you have it.

Never know, Zombie apocolypse, meteor strike...........cant always plan for what may or may not happen and cant take it with you. :D

I've always wanted an exhaust but never got around to getting one because I was always fixing her after crashes

It sounds like you should just save for repairs for all the crashing you do.

maybe take the $500 and sign up for Racer5? Reduce the crashing, then get the exhaust?

In 60k km of riding **** happens...especially on the track. If I was going to, I'd much rather spend that 500 bucks on more trackdays and tires not Racer5, again thanks for the suggestion...

Already got a spare set of bodywork and handlebars...and I finally put on some sliders. But thanks for the suggestion...

LOL. You've got a good sense of humour. Rest assured you will be happy with whatever brand you decide on.
