to all of the fathers that ride...please read

One thing you can do is always text your wife/gf whenever you go somewhere. Text them when you arrive, and when you leave; just so they know you made it there okay to help keep their mind at ease. It only takes a minute to send a text message, instead of having them worry for hours.

February 2011 is very significant for me because I returned my company-provided cell phone to my employer. Since then, no more cell phone for me. That means, no more people keeping tabs on me.

If it is work related, I encourage people to email me, and I will reply as soon as I can. Sorry, sometimes they will have to wait a little bit. Or a lot, if I am busy.

If my wife wants to know where I am, she can always call me at the office and leave a voice message. I may call her back the next day... LoLz

Or when he said he was going to do a muay thai fight and wanted everyone to show up to watch so he actually posted the place and time instead of talking a lot of smack? Remember those times? Hmmmmm? Hendo junior?

awwww, so sorry I missed you little lady....
****ing faggot, I actually got in touch with people who were interested a had a FB event for people that know me and aren't a bunch of internet badasses.
Complaining about people talking smack and calling em out on weeks old **** at the same time...typical pussy.
Here's the next one, Sept. 29th if you can find your nutsack come out and see me in person....
I'm going to stop here and unless you plan to man up bigshot, you should too.

Out of my way but will try and set something up...

For me it has been about riding more cautiously and making sure I have all the gear on, I have a 6 and 4 year old. Lots of things in life are risky BTW.

The bigger issue I have had is time on the bike, I find that these days it just does not happen much (spending time with the kids). Also, where I would ride to work in the past I am not now because I am dropping one off....

Who are you training with/under? I use to train (mostly with Shankar) at TKMT uptown but stopped going there in April.

I don't suppose you and LoneRonin know if you are in the same weight class or not?

Maybe we can promote a "GTAM Fights night" This is getting good.

I'm a father to two boys; 13 and 8. I never gave dying much thought till I hit a bear this summer on my Ducati. It was said by some (not my wife and kids) that maybe I should just shelve riding and "live longer". My thoughts are that we/I will die when it's time for me to die and that's that. Everything we do carries risks and rewards. It's up to each person to decide what kind of reward they get from motorcycling. For me personally, I completely understand people taking their bikes off the road and tracking it exclusively. However, I enjoy every moment of commuting and every single road trip leaves a smile on my face for weeks.

The first thing I did when the cast came off was buy another bike and I haven't looked back since (4000kms over the last month). Life is for the living and I don't think I could have lived happily had I given up riding after my first accident of any kind over 26 years of riding/driving. On another note, my oldest son has a dirt bike and he enjoys riding pilion with me so much that we are planning a ride to Newfoundland togther next summer.

so now grown men need to message and report everything they do?? Are you serious? How about women just grow the **** up, are they really that insecure?
I wonder what happened in the good old days when a man had to go somewhere and he'd be on the road weeks at a time, no cellphone no nothing...

Not everything. Just a quick "Hey, I'm still ailve."

Or would you rather your SO be pacing around the house wondering if that biker that crashed and died was the person he/she loved?

You have a sick way of showing your love, if you can't take a few seconds out of your time to ease their mind.

Oh, and the "good old days"
do you really think any time frame in the past was a better time to live in, than right now? If so, you might need to stop playing so many video games and watching so many movies; and read a god damn history book.

I also find it funny that you were so quick to yell at sonny calling him a faggot, and then try and set up some time to roll around with him, both half naked, on a floor.
MMA is not a macho manly sport. Saying you do MMA to try and prove how much of a man you are isn't exactly the best thing to do...

You seem so quick to try and defend your manhood, something you want to share with the class?

I train with Daniel. I'm 210, I think he is 160 but claims in other threads he says he whoops 200 pounders cause hes so awesome so I guess we are good to go if thats what he wants....here is what he said

"I weigh 160lbs and when you're 200lbs, jacked and getting your *** whooped by someone like me, looks don't mean ****"

wow. this thread took a turn i wasn't expecting

nonetheless, thanks to everyone that responded. i've enjoyed reading your stories and will continue to figure out what's best for me and my family. I don't see riding going out of my life completly as i do have a passion for it but i do see it taking a temporary back seat to other obligations.

keep the responses coming!

yea, but now you're taking it out of context. That was in reference to muscleheads who just lift a lot but don't do any sports or anything and just try to hump and hug you to death...not a trained fighter.
And yea sorry for the faggot calling...everything else stands.

Disability, life insurance and taking extra care & control when riding. Prepare for the worst & hope for the best.
