i know when racer 5 was running the tmp lapping days there would be someone there who would for a fee change your tires, on the tmp run lapping days is there someone whos changing tires? someone who sells them and changes them on site and not just the off chance that someone would have spoons and for a few bucks would replace a tire.

I've never seen tire changing when TMP puts on a track day, I've only seen it with Racer5 or Guys with Bikes, and I don't think they are hosting much of TMP this year.

If you need a tires changed let me know, I can help out.

ive got a rear on the bike that has a ton of side life left but the center is starting to wear a bit more, its one of those things where by the time june 22nd comes ill be on the wear bars in the center but the sides will still have plenty of life so id hate to toss that tire when i know i can get more out of it, but i dont want to go to tmp and find out they wont let me run because of it so i want to bring a spare rear just in case they say no.
i dont think racer 5 is doing any tmp this year which is unfortunate, at the same time ive been to a tmp hosted day and im sure i could bring a bike through with no rear wheel and no one would notice during tech lol

If anyone brings tire changing equipment to a GWB day at TMP they might get banned from the track. Just an FYI

i dont like the gwb days at tmp so im safe there. good to know though, ive got a buddy with spoons ill just try and convince him to come to the track.

Let me ask you, in which part of the tire you do most of your braking? and accelerating?

It's not about passing inspection, it is about being safe to you and OTHERS

My front tire has lots of life, the back is almost at the wear bar, I'm not worried about acceleration, this tire becomes a gummy bear when warm, but the sides have a ton of life still, and like I said the front had tons all over

? Why's that?

GWB has sole rights to tire changes at days they run. Changing tires for people (even if you're not charging for it, doing it for friends) can be seen as taking their business. Then you might get threatened and potentially banned from TMP.

If you change yours and your friends tires not for profit there is not chance of this. They provide a service if you need your tires changed. No one is getting banned from the track for changing tires.

You weren't there.

I was threatened with being kicked out of the trackday and banned from TMP if I so much as touched anyone else's tires.

There are some track day organizations that you want to come back to.

And there are others that you don't want to touch with a ten foot pole.

I've already said too much.

Meh, ill say it than.

Ive attended a GWB trackday at TMP. The riders meeting started like this " you guys want to shut the FCUK up and listen". And please dont tell me any different. I was right there.

I've attended 3 track days at TMP; 1 by TMP, 1 by GWB and last year's GTAM day.

The GTAM day was by far the best organized and friendliest group, but I don't recall if there was anyone there to do tires. (could have well done without the "music" and replaced the guy with a service booth)

TMP day was just a circus: it was a 1 - 9 PM deal, I arrived at noon to get tech and registration out of the way as this was my first day at TMP. There was no-one there from the organizer till after 1:00. Tech was the most cursory glance (I don't think Uli or his crew know anything about bikes). The day didn't start until almost 2:00. We shared the ambulance with the drag strip and lost the ambulance for several sessions for a problem in the stands. Even without the ambulance, the pit out control mistakenly sent bikes onto the track and had to black flag the session. They missed bikes that had fallen and started the next session without recovery. The (only) corner marshal missed yellow flags for fallen or off track bikes. There were no services outside of the hamburger stand and pizza kiosk.

GWB (Or Cashburn, or whatever they call themselves) are different again. A very militant group. If you're not there as one of their riders, you're fodder to make up the cost of running the day. Complaints of track heroes in the beginner group standing up other bikes and running other riders off the track fell on deaf ears. They did have a service booth, but I don't know what they were charging for a tire install.

I haven't done a Racer5 day at TMP, but I've only heard good things.

When did this happen with the heros?? and Who did you talk to about it? Just FYI they are hired to run the days and do not make money based on the number of riders. whether there are 2 or 60 riders doesnt change what they get paid so thats parts just bashing for bashing sake. And could you be more specific on what "militant" means in this context?

Your right I wasnt there and Im not trying to defend you or them but there seems to be alot of hate on this site and I think its pointless. I am only trying to quell all of it . I dont come on here to scare people away from one shop or another. I was at the Last GWB weekend and heard nothing but good things there and afterward. Then I come on here and people are saying there was problems. sorry u had a bad experience there but how long ago was that?

It may or may not have been the same incident, but I remember a GWB day when, at the riders' meeting, there were a few people not paying attention and talking really loudly. It was rude and very annoying and Chris gave them the evil eye a couple of times but they were oblivious. After several minutes of this, he came out with the "will you please shut the F up" comment. It was 100% justified (I think some of the rest of us were ready to say it if he didn't). No, he is not overly tactful but at least at one of his days you know who is in charge. At the TMP-run days no one really seems to be in charge. Guess where I feel safer?

The special talent that Fawaz (Racer 5) has is that he can run a day where the rules are tight and everyone knows what's what..but he still comes off as super nice and only interested in making sure that everyone has fun. He's the boss and does his job keeping things as safe as they can possibly be, but everyone likes him and he never gets ****** off. That's not easy. Same track, same day, I'd gladly pay $50 extra for a Racer 5 event.

But frankly, I am grateful to *all* of these outfits who bother to organize trackdays (and race series!) for us. There are far easier ways to make money in this world, so they must all be doing it at least partially out of some kind of personal interest / passion for the sport. We're pretty fortunate to have the opportunity to do this stuff at all.
