Tlr1000 owners

Rear suspension; look into Bitubo. They make a great unit that replaces both the SOAS (spring on a stick) and the rotary damper with a single unit that performs well, saves a TONNE of weight, and is reasonably priced (had one on my TLS).

Aside from that, a couple of web forums have just become your new home pages;

Enjoy the Tiller!

All I can add is that I borrowed one for a few hours and it seems to always want more throttle so it wasn't much of a joy for touring; more for strafing twisties.
An acquaintance in Milan, ie. 100% Italian, has owned Ducati 998's and 1098. He recognized the TL name right away and thought highly of that model. (He's also really fed up with Ducati quality and factory's service attitude - going back to foreign brands for his next bike)

Nice.... i live in Brantford and Work in Hamiton so i bought it more for the commute everyday, i find its not a city Toy unless you like being in 2nd gear the whole time lol...

True but that's with every bike I've owned since 1987. VFR750, FZR1000, VN2000, V-Strom. All but my first 400 and even that was just slightly high revving in 2nd.

Thanks for the Links.....

Coyo knows his TL stuff, his was second only to mine. :)
I also had a Bitubo, good quality but mine came with a too heavy spring, make sure you match the right spring weight if you order one or the ride will be punishing.

Pros:-Strong Twin motor, sweet exhaust note , and a road grabbing suspension.
Cons:- A definite knee slapper unless you're experienced with heavyweights or a 200 pounded.
in short i can say that if you want one of the most powerful twins on the market, the TLR is for you, but if you're afraid of a little weight. stick to the middleweights.

thank's its heavy but i find it a good heavy.... i find myself beat up every time i ride it lol....

im jealous....and im serious.

A good friend of mine had one and I rode with him for years while he had it. Other than the nice exhaust note we both hated that bike (heavy, slow, bad suspension). I had an 06 GSXR1000 during the same time and he coveted my bike everytime I rode with him.
In my opinion though, if it's the bike that your in love with now then enjoy it. That's all that matters. It's still got plenty of power on the street and should be quite comfy for commuting.

Have been here for a few years now but my TL back home is still on my computer desktop. They have their pros and cons but are damn addictive. Id hate to be riding it in Toronto traffic, (though id probably say that for ANY bike) but a v-twin is a perfect street bike. Around town 200km a tank is normal thought through the twisties giving it a hand full I was only getting about 120-140kms and about 2500kms out of a rear tyre.

Ive got a spare tank if you need it lol

but things i did to mine, upgraded the front end to a modern setup from an 04 gsxr 1000, upgraded the brake and clutch masters, as the oem ones were horrible. Bi-tubo rear shock for sure, new damper, yosh tune is a very good idea, dont worry about the power commander garbage. nice aftermarket filter, as they love to breath.

lots of little things and quirks you will pick up over time, but overall, a fun bike to play with
