Tire Sizes

A BIGGER tire won't necessarily do this.

You need a tire with a larger outside diameter to significantly effect the final drive ratio.

The problem is, installing a tire to perform this function will also increase rear ride height which will effect handling.

Well its a suggestion we keep getting because changing the shaft drive is gonna be way more difficult. And besides shes a big cruiser... I am already used to having to be more forceful with handling lol.

before you select a tire, you should investigate different brands and determine what their installed, inflated outside diameter is, then calculate which will best fit the solution you are attempting to achieve.

2 tires from different manufacturers can have very different installed sizes even though the are labeled as the same size tire.

thats what she meant.. were going to go a tad bit taller in the rear and adjust the suspension for height and fender for clearance accordingly. the 1100 v-star is in dire need of an overdrive or 6th gear. unfortunately it being shaft driven makes it a real pita to do any kind of gearing adjustments,if its possible at all? ive not had any luck finding anything yet.
