Tips/Tricks/Blessings: How to lift front-end without stand

guys i need to change my fork seals desperately as they are leaking oil onto my front brakes.
mechanic is too expensive, and so is a front stand (i have rear stand)

I bought the fork seals, now just need to install them.

looking for tips/tricks on how to lift up the bike to take off the front wheel and forks.

my garage is finished so I would rather not bust holes in the drywall and use a pulley/rope to lift it up..
anybody have experience with a car jack?
 
you can use a car jack and a 2x4 pc of wood if its a SS remove the lower fairings and let it rest on the pipes, not the oil pan.
 
Use your rear stand, put jackstands under the foot pegs (flip them unless you have solid mount aftermarket rearsets), weigh/strap down the rear end to something and remove the rear stand. Or if you have trustworthy framesliders, use those as the jack point.

if you have a shed/garage with some rafters/beams up top.. you could hoist it up with some ropes.

EDIT- sorry i didnt see your bit about having a finished garage.

I heard that you can just use a chunk of plywood and a pillow

This or a triple tree stand. Lifting the bike with a winch will work but will be very unstable when it comes to loosening and tightening bolts etc.
 
buy front stand at Canadian Tire, fix problem, return
 
You cannot use a front stand to take off the forks.

But, i thought it would be better to put the 2x4 on the oil pan, rather than exhast pipes. Is the exhaust raelly bettter suited to take the weight?

Still unstable and you're taking an unnecessary risk. Use the rear stand and axle stands combo pictured above. If it's good enough for suspension professionals then it should be good enough for you. Between Crappy and Princess Auto at least one of them should have axle stands on sale.
