Time for new rubber. Looking for advice on choosing

So from mid april until now I'm at 9100 kms. The bridgestone battlax tires are horrible in the rain and both are almost done anyways. I'm looking at either the pilot power 3 from michelin or the metzler sportec m5's. Anyone with any experience/ride time on either of these? Is there anything else I could consider beyond these two? I obviously ride a lot so I would like something that's going to last a bit but still be sticky enough for some good cornering ability. Thanks for any help in advance

Pilot Road 2's are plenty sticky for the road, are excellent in the rain and i'm near 9k on my rear and plenty of life left. I should easily get to 18k before calling them done.

My bike does see some pretty aggressive riding quite often. No track yet.

What about Dunlop Q3's?

Do you track? And how are your strips?

I'm not that aggressive, I'll ramp once a week or so and have almost no strips but I'm running Pirelli Angel STs. They're great in the rain and have never slipped on me once (except when I went into a asphalt crack line lol).

I was originally on BT-016s. I never managed to slip them but I had a feeling I wasn't pushing hard enough to actually need them...and I was right! I managed to scrape my foot accidentally last week =(

Angel ST/GTs are sport touring tires that were awarded "longest life" title and keep getting very high reviews. Sport touring also means they don't need to heat up as much to begin maximum traction.

I don't use rubber ;)

Everyone I've met who've used the PP3 have had nothing but good experiences/review.
I've got small tires (110/70/17 130/70/17) so I can't comment on them myself.

I have used my BT-023's in heavy rain enroute to the Blue Ridge parkway, 2 days of sprited riding on the BRP, then a few passes of the dragon, then back the way I came, and even went through a snow storm coming back through PA.

The BT-023's held up great. They were still fairly new and ended up lasting over 10,000kms. I'm on my 2nd set. Love 'em.

Bridgestone has that new sport touring tire now. BT-30 I think? I haven't heard any reviews about them.

I got 15,500 km's out of a set of PR3's. Towards the last couple thousend km's, the front started cupping an the rear wasn't giving me the confidence in the corners. I use them for commuting, and some fun runs on the weekends. Definitely better then the OEM B16's they replaced, but that's not saying much. 3 weeks ago I changed them up for a set of M5's. I got back from a 1,700 km ride to PA for 3 days of twisties, and I could really feel the difference. Turn in was a big improvement (in part comparing new to old & somewhat squared), but I was getting great grip & confidence in the corners. My chicken strips went from 3/8" on the PR3's to almost nothing on the M5's. I certainly don't expect the M5's to last as long, but I do appreciate the improvement in performance.

That's why I'm leaning towards the m5's. If I can get the rest of the season out of them I'd be ok with that. Bridgestones will never be on my bike again. Considering how cold it was at the start of the season they should have lasted more than this.

You got 15,000 out of em and are complaining?
I got 6,000 km out of my 2cts :lmao:

Absolutely no complaints about the mileage I got from my PR3's. Just saying that the M5's give me more confidence in the corners, which should be expected comparing a sport touring tire to a sport tire. No tire is going to be good at everything. That's why I like to switch things up. Today, my priority is improving my cornering. I'm liking the M5's for that.

I got less than ~4K KM's out of a set of BT-003 R's. lol They are awesome tires, but I really don't want to go through 2-3 sets a season.

I wanted a balance between decent performance and longevity, so this time around I went with the S20's. They're supposed to be a good compromise between the 003's and the 016's and so far I haven't noticed anything about them that I don't like.

We'll see how many K's I get out of them.

I guess I don't have to preach anymore

The difference you felt is probably less about going from one Brand/model tire to another, and more from going from an old worn tire to a brand new one.

Maybe, but I was never as comfortable leaning the PR3's over that last little bit, which explains the difference in chicken strips.

I just put on the pilot power 3'son a gixxer 750, can't say much for mileage, but the grip is awesome.. so far all i can say is that its a great tire. holds up great on the twisty roads..
