Time for an upgrade

I am looking to upgrade from my VLX. I am on the shorter side and love the look of the other bigger shadows, but am open to other makes and models. 800 is probably enough for me. Just looking for your thoughts.

Suzuki M50/C50 certainly... Also...
Kawi Vulcan 900
Yamaha VStar 950
Honda Stateline

So many great mid size cruisers out there.
 
Shadow 750's have low seat height but you won't feel much difference power-wise from your VLX.... if you want the all-black look, check out the Phantom....

Harley 883 is also a fav of chickies...

+1 on the Suzuki M50/C50 and Kawi Vulcans too...
 
Honda Stateline: 1,300cc. I found it a little squirrelly in the bends. And at 671lbs, it's the heaviest here.
Vulvan and Suzuki: great rides. Both ride smooth as butter and lean perfect. (I have the Vulcan myself).
Yamaha: Nice ride and great power band. Lean angle wasn't as deep as the Kawi or Suzuki.

Went with the Kawi over the Yamaha just cause it's liquid cooled.

Not finding her "inadequate" per se. She was a perfect bike for me. That being said, finding accessories wasn't easy and it really could use a fifth gear. She goes but she whines over 120. Won't be 2upping so I like the bobbers. The phantom *drool* I found one that was blacked out which is a very different look from my chromed to the max vlx. Leaning that way, just thought I would take advantage of all the knowledge this forum has to offer.

That's what I was wondering. Would it feel any different through the gears. I like the 883 just not the price tag. M50 in the backyard collecting dust, not my favorite look.

well, it's 5-speed and doesn't whine past 120... and shadow's are easy and cheap to maintain.... sold my 750 and now have an 1100...
don't think the triumph will be cheap but it's a nice bike though...
 
I can speak for the Vulcan 900 (Classic in my case). I own a 2010 Vulcan and absolutely love it. Then again, I upgraded from a Virago 250. I am 6' and the Vulcan offers me plenty of room. I believe the seat height is fairly low so shorter riders would be comfortable on it as well. I don't do 2-ups as my g/f isn't into riding. When riding solo, the Vulcan can easily do 120 kph withouth whinning. However, I do at times look for that unavailable/imaginary 6th gear. I like the slow speed maneuverability of the Vulcan and love the "gauranteed neutral finder". When the bike is stationary and in first gear, you will NEVER miss neutral if looking for it. Thats the Kawasaki's guaranteed neutral finder. I also like the fact that it has a fuel guage, although, its not very accurate. Having said that, it errs on the side of caution; when the fuel light lights up, you still have about a quarter of a tank.

If you do decide to get the Vulcan, the one thing you will need to get used to is the famous Vulcan "tick".
