Thoughts on late 2000s Triumph Scrambler 900

I am musing about getting a second bike, or replacing the one I have... Possibly... Just feeling things out for now.

Looking at an '09 and '11 Triumph Scrambler 900 in Olive/Green. Seem to be around $6k on Kijiji right now. Hoping to get it for $4500-5000 realistically...

Love the look, love the sound with the BC exhausts on them :giggle:.

Preliminary research seems to indicate that mechanically they are all quite solid due to having low strung motors, but have corrosion and electrical issues when left in the rain (which I do... I keep bikes outside during riding season, though I can throw a cover on).

Anyone have personal experience with either of these years of Scrambler? I'm interested in issues regarding parts availability, maintenance costs, fun factor, etc! It will be a daily driver, so being reliable is CRUCIAL for me.

Currently on a 2000 KLR650. I love it, but if I were to ever get something else, Scrambler is the only bike that does it for me from all of my searching. I like that they are EFI, and I like the iconic design. Performance wise, I expect it to be about the same as the KLR, maybe marginally better.

I commute daily, and do camping trips as well a handful of times a year. On my KLR I keep my riding days below 450-500km, I expect I'd have to do the same on one of these as well.

Would appreciate any insights!

Those are the ones I'm looking at!

Trying to see if the one without pictures will respond. I work not far away so might go look today.

Good to hear no issues at 50k+ with your friends :)
Best to call the one i posted. Doesn't look like they respond much to emails... just my opinion!
