Thoughts on armoured shirts/hoodies

Bought a one piece underwear style suit from Knox years ago on a deep discount from one of the shops going out of business.
I had to move it into jackets and pants, as the underwear was European cut. i.e. very short, and narrow waisted.

I wear what is essentially a kevlar shirt most of the summer. I own a mesh/textile jacket with armour but never where it because:

-The armor would easily push out of the way so I see little value in it
-in my eyes, a few large solid panels should hold up better then a couple dozen small solid and mesh panels sewn together
-The plaid kevlar shirt looks casual when I get off the bike so I'm more likely to wear it (prior I often wore no protection if going to work, on vacation, too hot, etc.)

is it Knox stuff or other brand?

speed and strength. just went to royal to get something that I could wear on an airplane comfortably when going on a trip and trying to minimize luggage needs. I tried on all the similar stuff in Royal on clearance before the trip and the speed and strength happened to fit the best and had minimal patches/writing etc.
