this is wrong harper

“Based on information provided by the deployed Task Force, the administrative error was discovered after personnel had received overpayment of the risk and hardship allowance,” the DND email explained. “It was therefore not a reduction in level, but rather that the established rate was never properly implemented and personnel had been overpaid.”

The committee determined the soldiers would be paid a lower rate of hardship and risk pay than that being paid to Canadian troops in Kabul.
But the rates weren’t instituted in June 2012 because of an administrative error.

this is normal is civilian life too.

accounts over pays an employee, employer realizes, and rightfully requests to be paid back.

more smear on harper. what a surprise.

like the government officials aren't over paid.

Good! They deserve to be overpaid.

Actually, I don't make what my civilian counterparts do... By a good 20-30 grand per year. And the danger pay doesn't even close that gap.

And if you haven't been there and walked it, how can you comment on what they deserve?

Oh.... Of course. Just like everyone can say what an auto factory worker should make right?

Most blue collard people have some idea of what goes on in a factory, so yes. But to say that 50 to 60 grand a year is too much for someone at risk doing a job most people wouldn't do (which is fine, it has no interest for most Canadians), especially when people have no clue about the type of work being done. It isn't 9-5 working behind a desk and then driving home to the wife and kids.

Yes, they're all heros that deserve a million bucks blah blah blah.

Don't like the pay, don't do the job. I'm fairly certain Canadian doesn't do conscription.

It's not a million bucks... It's not even a tenth of a million bucks.

And 98% of the population WON'T do the job.

I don't see how it's wrong....

The soldiers that fought in Afghanistan up until 2011 were payed risk and hardship allowances at the high end of the scale.

The soldiers that went to Kabul etc. after the battlegroup left to train the ANA and ANP never went into combat. They job was mentoring/training, not war fighting.

If the allowances were wrong and they were recovered then there is nothing for the soldiers to cry in their air conditioned internet equipped rooms about.

Ask any soldier that was OTW what he/she thinks of the troops in AFG right now making the same thing they did.

Even my first tour (Medusa) and my second to ur (KAF) shouldn't have made me the same money since it's...

The DP and RP was is paid out at a lower level. Not removed completely.

Nothing wrong with correcting an administrative error.

Point is that people have no clue what they are bitching about when it comes to military folks being overpaid.

And your sarcastic "hero" comment isn't welcomed much either.

Point is that they are volunteers. Nobody is making them do it.

Never asked you to welcome my comments.

If you don't like it then quit. No one is making you do it...

Some real ungrateful ********** here. Probably the first ones to defecate and fall to their knees screaming for help though.

And then we have people like you. I have no issues with the military, police, fire fighters, etc. the problem I have is when they feel entitled because "they are doing a job no one else is willing to do".

The government that represents me decided to fight some wars that never affected me. Let's take Afghanistan for example. We went there because of the Americans. The Taliban was in power for how long, while we did nothing about it. But our military folks think they are "above" everyone else, and I'm sorry but that **** ain't right.

When there's a clear and present danger (lol) to my country or commonwealth I will fight, but until then I will not be a shill for the government.

To all the veterans who went to battle to defend Great Britain I thank you, to all the others that fought pointless and needless wars, I'm sorry for your loss.
