Not only that, for the price, reliability and availability; it simply cannot be beat. It can be fired by a 5yr old kid and even maintained by one. For 2 cows + a sheep, its yours. They have been in circulation since the 60's. After the cold war, there was excess and you could've probably gotten one for the price of a goat. Some have seen war after war, at the end of one war, they are collected and sold again to do some more killing. Just like the illegal guns on the streets.
It is also one of the most widely duplicated guns

Don't forget the AK has been in service since the 60's. It might look antiquated now, but 50yrs ago, it was probably the sexiest thing alive. You can't compare the looks of a modern arm and a 50yr old rifle.
So in short, what I'm saying is, the AK deserves a bit of respect. It has been used in every major conflict since its inception and is still being used, no other arm has been so widely duplicated and no other arm has been produced in such quantities
