This Country is Going To Hell

Years ago as well.. I was able to "steal" my buddy's srt8 while he was about 25ft away with the fob... saw it on top gear and tried it ourselves... it didn't work when there was a window in-between though.
I know I can start the wife's suv when the fob is outside it, at the back door.
Our ram has to be annoyingly close like sitting on the shelf below the button not in your pocket. The car has to be in the right pocket. And my truck in the nice little holder on the column. I will say I usually leave the key on while pumping gas.

That car thief sure was calm about the situation, almost like he has done it before.

One time I was driving my grandmas vehicle with her key in my pocket, got out at my home and she got in and drove off, she made it home across the city while I still had the key in my pocket. Lucky realized before she turned the car off, came back and got her key.

I've often wondered if that ever happened to someone...

Buddy had wife drop him at airport , he drove to airport , she took over and went home . Fob and him went to Winnipeg for 5 days . She parked behind her car when she got home , both vehicles disabled now . Found spare fob on day two .

That's a big problem with proximity keys. Most now get really ****** the second the key leaves the vehicle (annoying dinging, dash light and messaging about key). Older ones didn't care and I think they only polled for the key when off.

My sister in law found herself stranded at the grocery store a few times with no fob.
Started the car. Put the keys down for some reason and drove away. You only find out at your destination, once you try and leave.

My Odyssey won't start if the key isn't in the driver's seat. Even with the fob in the door pocket and the door open...no go.

My old Genesis Coupe had a great feature. I was trying to close the trunk and the damn thing kept opening...WTF! After 5 attempts I realized I left the spare key in the trunk and it was a feature to NOT lock your keys in the trunk.

I always take a spare set of keys when we go camping / hiking / cottage / etc...it would REALLY suck to lose one key and not be able to make it home. Of course during last weekend's camping trip my wife left the keys inside of the car...lots of help that would do for us if we lost my key...
