It's racists to describe a man any other way if he's not white.Gotta love that description: “man with a moustache” SMH
We're going to Mikisew Provincial Park over the weekend of the 24th. Have never been, but hoping being past Huntsville will weed out the riff raff.Went to our traditional camping trip at Pinery...what a difference from last year to this.
Last year...quiet, busy but not bad, minimal garbage, minimal disruption, etc etc...
This year...international 'students' everywhere, loud, annoying, don't respect the quiet time rules, dirty, and the bathrooms (women's in particular) were horribly treated and dirtied by the users. Peeing on the side of the beach, large groups, and just overall a different vibe from the previous 4 years we've been there.
Tradition may require changes, or stop going if it continues going downhill as it did this year.
Too bad. Such a beautiful place. Overrun by rude and uncaring people.
You're right...the rudest and loudest are always a crapshoot. BUT...the level of dirty, large groups, and specific groups all increased at the same time. We're going to Mikisew Provincial Park over the weekend of the 24th. To be fair, having camped at Sandbanks my fair share of weekends, the loudness and disrespect have existed a long time, it can be luck of the draw between a good weekend and one with some yahoos nearby with tunes cranked and an inability to communicate at anything less than a holler. But there does seem to be an extra level of disrespect now, combined with huge groups that really put it into overdrive.
Wardens need to snuff that stuff out. One warning and then it's time to pack the car. I don't care if it's 23:00 and home is hours away. Actions meet consequences. Also block that person from booking at a provincial park for a year. We're going to Mikisew Provincial Park over the weekend of the 24th. I agree...long weekends are busy and I expect a certain amount of traffic, and douchebaggery. BUT...to be so cavalier about garbage, leaving dirtiness, and being rude...that's not something that was common to me when I've been the last 5 years.Going anyplace on a long weekend is a recipe for stupidness. Everyone has the same idea to get out and do something. I rather just say home while everyone else leaves.
Yikes. That's definitely loaded heavy. Any more crap and you need the trailer just for weight capacity. You're right...the rudest and loudest are always a crapshoot. BUT...the level of dirty, large groups, and specific groups all increased at the same time.
I hope to hell I'm wrong, and hope that it's not a sign of things to come / continue...because our Provincial Parks really are a treasure and my kids are expressing a higher level of camping enjoyment...and I'd like to build that desire to camp within them.
The Odyssey was working OT this weekend to pack us up fully...low rider style...

The problems with your plan are multiple, although I agree with them...Wardens need to snuff that stuff out. One warning and then it's time to pack the car. I don't care if it's 23:00 and home is hours away. Actions meet consequences. Also block that person from booking at a provincial park for a year.
Thankfully no more fit into it...I considered the folding trailer but friends were also coming so wouldn't have much space on the site with the trailer, 2 large tents, 2 large cars, a dinner tent...and the lot of other 'junk' we take.Yikes. That's definitely loaded heavy. Any more crap and you need the trailer just for weight capacity.
At Elora Gorge on Sat July 27 and it looked like at least half the sites were empty. Surprised me. That's close and a fun weekend when the kids are old enough. They need to be at least 48 inches to tube.I agree...long weekends are busy and I expect a certain amount of traffic, and douchebaggery. Regardless, I hope I'm wrong, and it was a single experience. Overall still a great experience...but seen it going down hill.
Although during our time there we had 3 diff neighbours on one side, and 2 on the other (all quiet) and each were only able to get a single night in as the site booked up fast.
