The way it would work now. If the judge wants to give a 36 month sentence, he gives the guy 30 months, applies a 1.5-1, therefore the 12 months pre trial will be equal to 18 months, which leaves 12 months to serve, given good behaviour he serves 8 months, the end result is the same, he still serves 20 months total. Circumventing Harper's feeble attempt and changing the law.

the suggestion that all perceptions are equal is ridiculous. many views simply should not be given legitimacy because they are devoid of reason and morality and have no place in civilized society.

And if people actually knew what they were talking about this thread wouldn't even exist.

we have people here that think:

bail is somehow a bribe to get out of jail
pre-trial custody ends up with less jail time
2nd degree murder doesn't have intent to kill..

and yes. all of that is wrong, the end.

I hate to burst your bubble, but 9 out of 10 times if you do pre trial custody, you well serve less time in custody. That's not perception its reality, and its always been that way.
