thinking of a 250cc or similar size

so im thinking of looking into a honda 125 or honda 250cc something a step and size down from 600... ive had a hayabusa 1300 and it was alot of bike too much for me to actually be using like i like to use a bike....so i think something like a 250 or so would be a good choice for me wont get into as much trouble (speeding) and or get myself hurt as i seem to not have much control on a machine lol my quads and bikes i have had and have now im almost wanting to bar it

also another question is with a 125 or 250 style bike that has the skinny little tire on the rear am i able to upgrade it to a bigger rear tire so it looks like a 600 or so cosmetically love the looks of a big rear tire compared to a tiny one ......

Yes you can get a bigger tire depending on the bike (most 130/70 stock you can put a 150/60 on and it'll just pinch a bit, but not enough to cause any problem)
Or you can do a rim swap from another bike/etc/etc, the only limiting factor is clearance from your chain/swingarm. (but do note: getting a bigger tire will affect turning)

Although you can also look into 400s or 500s (like the ninja 400, ninja/gs500, and maybe even the 650s (like the sv650, ninja 650r,)) they'd be a lot more forgiving than a 600 i4.

Also, major respect for noticing you don't have much control and wanting to downgrade^

ya i just have a problem with leaving lights or taking off and really hauling *** lol .... basically my hayabusa i had i would fly on it ALL the time, and it wasnt very great for driving in town always clutch in and out and it would sputter and such cuz all it wanted to do was GO GO GO and it loved it ..... just i cant contain myself on a machine like that, so basically a bike that would max out around 200km would be ideal... i wanna have enough snot to get out and pass when needed too so a 125 is out the door.... how much will it effect the turning and handling.... i have a 2008 honda trx450r quad and im always have it pinned which is my issue when on a bike as well lol .... i just absolutly LOVE going fast but im betting money a 600 and bigger isnt a good idea...

something like this is a sweet looking bike !! i LOVE all black stealth and crotch rockets also the supermoto's are cool too

My hyosung 250 has a 150 rear tire stock, with a full size frame (looks very similar to 600's). But like Sabex said there are alot of in betweens that you can hit on as well.

Only 725 km, yeah right. I would also consider the honda cbr250

ya i have been checking on kijiji for honda 250cbr as well.... i was told they only do about 160-170max, but the all black 250 kawi i posted above seems like alot of money for that bike doe sit not ?

Yes, that is way too much for a ninja 250 (especially almost bone stock)

Buy new and get the best price you can.

serious buy new ? arent they fairly pricey new at the dealer ? and if buying new, would a dealer put a rear fender eliminator kit on it and bigger rear tire (wider) ? or is it easy enough to do rear fender eliminate on your own ? IMO fender on em looks HORRIBLE lol .....

This year people were geting 2011 ninjas bnib for 4400 out the door taxes freight plate etc.

Personally i wouldn't mess with the tire size, i think it would mess with the handling on the 250 which is just superb.

fender eliminator kits are just bolt off the old and bolt on the new, nothing crazy.

ya ive looked em up on there site, looks like a honda 250 or kawi 250 is 4200 or so new BNIB i also saw kawi makes a 400r for 6799 :D pretty much same platform as the 600 but not as much power... mind you thats not including the freight and taxes and etc

ya fender eliminator kits are silly and seems all you do is cut the goofy fender off pretty much from what ive looked and seen on line

Don't get it ... you are downsizing because your last bike was too much .... but you are concerned that CBR250 will do only 160-170??? Is there a logic I am missing somewhere there?

If you want a 250 that LOOKs like a full 600 i'll second mattcanada's suggestion of a hyo. They'll even get you more compliments than some of the 500CC+ bikes because of the nice modern styling. You'll get some B.S. attitude from some of the more elitist bikers because it's an up-and-coming brand that used to have terrible quality, but the recent ones are not likely to be short in anything that you'll really notice unless you want to get aggressive with your riding (and you'll have to change the stock tires before you try that on a hyo). It's more than capable enough for any city riding and will still out-accelerate 95% of the cars on the road from a stop so you can get safely ahead of the cagers. The little engine's built like a tank and you can literally pin it all day with no complaints from the bike.

I speak from personal experience having owned one and it's very stable on the highway up to about 140 indicated (120 actual), it can make it up to 160 indicated (140 actual) but not much faster than that. If you want something that'll top out at 200, I don't think any stock 250 on the market will do it for you.

To be honest though, I think you should go and test drive some bikes at dealers. I hear where you're coming from not wanting the obscene power of a Busa1300, but going all the way down to a 250 may be overcompensating a bit. Power wise, it's more like a sport bike styled scooter and you will almost certainly find yourself wanting a middle-ground bike within a season of getting a 250 (again more sales taxes to pay). Your test drives should include at least on i4 600 because they have pretty tame low RPM power that will keep the bike from running away from you at intersections. A V-Twin like the SV650 (what I have now) will instead give you a strong pull from anything above idle, but will taper off on power in the higher RPMs unlike the i4 bikes which will pull like crazy up within their higher RPM power band.

If you have a lack of self control you can still get in trouble with a 250. Practice self control a little more....

Personally maybe go to a 500 or 650 instead of down to a 250. Every time a larger bike passes me I get big bike envy :/

Yes downsizing from a hayabusa lol... I want something that gonna really move when I want it to but don't wanna be flying how fast do the 250's actually go real world numbers of coarse, I'm really liking the kawi 250's in all black and fender eliminator and a bit larger rear tire

250's don't "really move" anything but their tach as you frequently pin the throttle riding around town. It definitely sounds like you'd be better off with something bigger.

Ya I've seen those Hyo bikes and they seem to sell CHEAP... But only looked at one cuz of unknown brand to me figured it was a chinese cheap thing like the chinese atv and dirtbikes... What do you guys think of the kawi 400r ? Insurance may give me some trouble as I have a speeding ticket and accident which is a "minor infraction" (following to close)

a few weekends ago I passed a 600 rider up on algonquin. wonder how he felt :p

wow thats a big down size Op...... i think 600ss would be best suited, not saying a 250 is not fun but i think the lack of power well get you bored quickly....self control is key when ridind any size...
