Thinking about a Rental business for Motorcycles

As a criteria to mitigate risk, age restriction will be place on the customer, especially to manage insurance cost. I am sure the insurance premium would vary quite drastically if I allow 16 years old to rent vs. restricting all customer to be 25 years and older.

My BIG question is whether anyone would know of any place that would offer these additional daily rental insurance like the ones offer at GTAexotics and others. Someone mentioned State Farm don't accept and I have contacted Duffy who does not provide these types of coverage. Would anyone know other brokerages who might offer it?

Again, its early stages, just wanted to get the budget and forecast together to see if it makes sense. Riding is one of my passion, having a keen entrepreneurial mindset, I always wanted to see if I can blend the two.

I do have a day job and don't plan to give that up anytime soon. I do have a business partner who is a full time mechanic for over 10 years with cars and worked on bikes occasionally for 5 years. I was thinking whether this rental business could lead to something else like servicing and maintenance but that would be a bit into the future.

Thought about online retail but too saturated and competitiveness, margin is too low. With stiff online competitions eroding prices, a brick and mortar retail store would be a suicide. For retail, if you are not already in it, its too late to enter the bike parts and accessories retail market now.

You're not likely to find a regular broker willing to handle this type of risk. I don't work with commercial fleet companies often but they are a very specialized group. My only suggestion (and I don't know that they'd even look at this) is Ace INA.

Thanks for the info 'Wasted'!

Just for fun I contacted SF this week and they told me clearly 'we do not insure rental of motorcycles'. Have you given it more thought and decided which way you're planning on moving forward?
