Theorical costs: What is the cost to insure a sportbike?

I would not say to stay away from a 650, the SV650 is an awesome bike, put a faring on it and your good to go for a year or two, enought time to build up some experience. I started with a GS550 and it was an awesome bike to get some experience, now I have a Zx6 Ninja and I am glad that I got the starter as it made me a better rider as well as only cost me $1000/year to insure. If you are with anyone other than state farm, it will cost you an arm and a leg, keep your record clean, go with state farm and your laughing. Good luck.

'10 GSXR 750, Brampton, 25, M, Clean = $2k (First year of insurance [which is what they ask], many years of riding [dont care much about that])

Thanks for the info, now I know when I'm going to be upgrading from my GS500. I guess I will take the next two years to save up money and learn how to maintain (and probably break) my a bike.

Apparently it also depends on the area you live in. Brampton, for example, is more expensive for insuring a bike than Toronto proper. At least, that's the excuse State Farm gave me. So don't be too shocked when they take location into consideration when tabulating your quote.

My location is cheap for sure. There hasn't been a single robbery here in over 10 years. The community is pretty tight too...(except we're getting invaded by a lot of ALALALALA people, but meh they're friendly too).

:lmao:LOL... that's too funny, I often say the same thing when I see them. hahahaha... thanks for the laugh man!

State farm goes by engine size. They were the only quote I got under $2000 w/o collision.
I was 28, M1, 01 CBR600 F4i clean record and they said if I bring my truck there they would give me a $50/month discount on the bike and they were only $5 more on the truck so right now I pay $850/year for full collision.
I asked what a 650 scooter would cost and they told me $950/year lol.
