Theorical costs: What is the cost to insure a sportbike?

Assuming 25, has M, and has a clean record.

I am assuming Statefarm is the only affordable insurance as I tried playing around with TD and some other companies: they all quoted me for 5000.

I am just trying to figure out how much I need to save up for in the next 2 years.

Depends how many CC. Also, whats your record like? Where do you live? Different areas have different insurance quotes. Whats your budget? If its your first time riding a bike. I suggest go with something thats not too powerfull. get an suzuki sv650 or a 650r. insurance is low.
thanks

How many years have you been riding?

Shouldn't advice come from someone who's actually had experience, or actually have been insured in the past?

don't bother with a 650. its a chicks bike, wait, any bike is better than no bike.

Then you ain't a motorcyclist. Aren't, and will never be.

hahahaha

TD is good if you qualify for their special interest groups (example: university alumni, professional engineer, etc.) so look into that to find out if you qualify for these groups. it might make the difference.

Also, when is the race between lynart and arushbhai taking place? do you plan on having insurance before or after the race?

I started riding when I was 25, clean record, with a 2003 ninja 500 through statefarm. Before I had my cars/house with them it was $1000/yr, the following year they wanted $1200 for the bike alone. I re-quoted the next year for the cars/house/bike (for some reason they became competitive the following year on the cars/house) and it was $720 for bike (no collision). This year (3 years later) I priced out a 2008 750 and a 2008 CBR 1000RR, the price was linear. $900 ish for the 750 and $1100 ish for the CBR, so I bought the CBR (no collision). Just for a gauge

Thank you, you're the only person who actually read the damn post and gave me info lol

So pretty much at 25, with a clean record and an M, I'm looking at below 1500?

The reason why I am asking is because I decided to play around with TD and some other online insurance quotes, I was getting 5000~ for this theoretical situation: I might as well not buy the bike then. I just hope by the time I am 25, Statefarm doesn't decide to jack the prices up...my record WILL still be clean.

Currently paying 2100 half year insurance for a GS500F with TD...sucks balls but =/

Pro right here

I had quotes all the way up to $9000 because its a 1000 supersport, i.e. I think its Jevco that puts on a 400% premium. SF is interesting, b/c I could theoretically have bought a 1L bike with an M1, same price, they don't care, all they want to know is what is your history, do you have at least 5 years of driving exp (car), and how big is the bike. Shop around.

Again, remember this is with 2 cars + house with them as well

I just turned 25, I live in Ajax and own a 2006 gsxr 750, two minor convictions which have now cleared off my record and I'm paying 1800$/year for full coverage with fire and theft, with SF.

Thanks, beats the random 5,000 $ year TD was quoting me lol
