The youth of today....

Too many useless irresponsible parents out there. ... I say hold the parents of these kids responsible also.... Once parents realize they are actually responsible for the raising of their kids ... I guarantee you will see a huge reduction in this type of behaviour....

Every kid is different.

Our first was so easy we thought we we the most awesome parents in the world, then the twins were born.

People need attention. Being nice gets you attention but it happens slowly. If you want instant attention do something bad by whatever means you can. Some people slam little girls, others crash planes into mountains or shoot up theaters.

Ghetto is as ghetto does.

"Eighteen-year-old Joshua Gordon and a 16-year-old male are charged with assault causing bodily harm."

Hope they have very proud parents.

LOL I love how everyone with a problem in the world now has a crowd-fund page and actually gets money!

I need to find me a good sob story and see how it goes...

mom will cry and wail and dad probably not in the picture for 14yrs.

Dont forget the claims of how he is a good boy and wouldnt hurt a fly and never in trouble etc etc etc. Seems most parents are completely oblivious to what their children are upto and what kind of person they are, although I dont consider 18 a child.

sorry, direct quote from the mom , "somebody should have stepped in and told her son stop, that is not right" . An 18yr old needs told , don't body slam the 16yr old girl???? So half the problem has been answered....

now fast forward 15yrs and her son is pulled for a broken tailight on his BENZ, behind on child support and wrestles with the officer , but is driving a BENZ, and he's a good boy, he is never in trouble........

Oh high-school. Nothing out of the ordinary. I remember when I was in my last year 2 really big guys got into a fight. This bad blood had been going on quite a while, police had been called by nothing came of it. One guy end up bringing a machete to school. Good thing it didn't escalated. It was more like a cold war

Whatever happened to: Spare the Rod Spoil the Child?

Society no longer puts any stock into basic, tried and tested child rearing principles and then his horrified when children behave like animals...case in point is young Billy here below, Billy's parents also didn't believe in Spare the Rod Spoil the Child and look how well Billy turned out:

Lol, video games really? What the hell did I just read, how old are you 16? I work in an emergency room, most stuff doesn't bother me, but that sure as hell isn't because I played video games. It takes a certain type of person to be a ICU nurse, or er nurse, most do it because of the rush you get, if you didn't want that type of excitement in that field, you sure wouldn't choose to work ICU or Er. It has not one ounce of anything to do with him playing ****ing GTA and COD. ITS HIS PERSONALITY,

My brother is a nurse that generally enjoys ICU work. He can watch patients pass away and not feel anything but gets a huge rush from code blues. There are other nurses I know who have broken down under similar circumstances. The difference between him and the nurses who break down? Video games, a lot of extremely violent video games.

North American culture is extremely sensitive to human sexuality; hentai games get instant banned here, yet Grand Theft Auto V is one of the best selling video games ever...and the next one will be too. Mind you, I would love to have Trevor Philips as a friend.

How many kids play GTAV? Probably too many. And this is game where we laugh about paying a hooker to have sex with you, then running her over with your car.

+1... ive been informed in other threads that homo sexuality is genetic.. people dont become gay by watching gay people... I dont know much on the subject so cant put any personal weight on it ... but the earliar post about kids becoming violent because of video games is far more ridiculous in my view... its been proven time and time again family history is a big FACTOR behind people with violent psychotic personalities...

Yes it may or may not be a factor.. so are we going to eliminate all references to violence for a childs life? No more playing cops and robbers? No more playing soldier.. what are children going to aspire to be in that case.. cant be a cop/soldier/action hero(spiderman etc).

Seems like I made a bunch of fan girls with my post. I have nothing against video games and have finished most Mortal Kombat and Grand Theft Auto games. What I posted has research facts backed up all; I'm far too lazy to start citing sources though. I'm not for eliminating violence from video games or removing video games. However there are 2 points:

1. Kids that really are far too young to be playing games like GTA (lets say...sub 16?). There is a critical period during childhood that a kid absorbs a ton of information effectively...doesn't sit well with me if they're gonna spend 8 hours a day beating on hookers and watching Trevor Philips bi-polar episodes (again, I really love his character).

2. Sexuality censorship over violence censorship. This makes no sense to me still.

Also, I never said kids become violent due to video games...I'm saying there is an effect, I don't know what it is. It's been stated that empathy is at an all time low (I'm not sure how you measure this or the validity of this statement) and it's quite obvious from even the ridiculously aggressive posts on this forum towards opinions that don't agree (thanks fan girls). Maybe kids have been standing around watching each other kick each other since before I was born but I'll never know. I never saw this stuff in high school because I never associated myself with that kind of crowd.

I agree with your pov. Some people just don't get it. Is somebody going to watch a video game and model that behaviour right away? No, very likely not. But the erosion over time can't be denied. Fact is people look around for clues all the time and model behaviour based on what they see, videos, games, advertising, sporting events, movies, books, every thing that is suggestive will appeal to some and not others. Role models, negative or positive. Some people act on that because. Evidence of that is everywhere. Look at trends. Dooshbag behaviour in some music videos that mimic street life, suburban kids act out those videos. Street racing vids? Chicken or egg?
We're all being desensitized to bad stuff. The video was cringe worthy but I got through it ok. Before the youtube explosion I'd be super rattled by that video and be thinking about the poor girl for a long time. Now? Not so much, gotta move to the next video. Shot in the back 5 times? Ho hum.
